The Clay County Sheriff Office has solved two burglary cases.
A Belles Creek man has been charged in connection with a neighbor break-in. Steven C. Hopkins age 24 of Belles Creek Road (Manchester) was charged after an investigation by Clay County Sheriff Office and Deputy Taye Napier.

New Clay Superintendent will be named Friday

The Clay County school board will be conducting interviews May 15 with three unnamed candidates recommended by the screening committee. If the board can reach an agreement, the selected candidate will be named that day and officially start work on July 1.

Sentences handed down in three federal cases

Sentences have been handed down in three major federal cases involving Clay County residents. Gerald Sizemore, Roy Gibson and four codefendants of Eugene were officially sentenced. The sentencing of Terry R. Smith and his wife Gerry has been continued until June 16. Terry Smith is in the process of appealing his conviction.
