A Manchester man has been arrested after a Kentucky State Police (KSP) Trooper investigated a report of a fight involving baseball bats.
Marty Scott Wombles, age 46 of Vista Road (Manchester) was charged with Public Intoxication controlled substance (excludes alcohol). According to his arrested citation when KSP Trooper Derrick Combs arrived on the scene Wombles threw down his baseball bat. After Combs spoke to Wombles it was determined he was “manifestly under the influence”.
The 2015 County Health Rankings for Kentucky have listed Clay County as one of the unhealthiest counties in the state. The University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute in collaboration with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation compiled the list. The rankings fall into two categories: factors and outcomes. Generally, health factors and outcomes reflect income and education levels.
Members of the Clay County Sheriff’s Office spent a day searching the area were a human skull was discovered by U.S. Forest Service firefighters about 80 yards from a cemetery on Ephram Creek Road last week.

A Manchester man has been arrested following an investigation into a burglary at Paces Creek Elementary School. The investigation began when Clay County Board of Education security noticed an individual at the school on a surveillance video.
