Disaster Loans Available to Agricultural Businesses

The U.S. Small Business Administration announced today that federal Economic Injury Disaster Loans are available to small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small businesses engaged in aquaculture and most private nonprofit organizations located in Kentucky as a result of the drought that began on Nov. 15, 2016. The SBA’s disaster declaration includes the following counties: Bell, Clay, Harlan, Knox, Laurel, Leslie, McCreary, Pulaski, Wayne and Whitley in Kentucky.

Senate Leaders Want Job Growth

Jack Brammer of herald-leader.com reports that Kentucky Senate Republican leaders say creation of jobs will be their priority in the upcoming state legislative session. More controversial topics, such as tax reform and social issues, probably will have to wait. The five GOP senators in leadership: President, Robert Stivers of Manchester; President Pro Tem, David Givens; Majority Floor Leader, Damon Thayer; Majority Caucus Chair, Dan Seum; and Majority Whip Jimmy Higdon held a news conference to discuss the General Assembly that begins in January.
