Twenty-five high school students were honored in a ceremony in the State Capitol as part of the first Kentucky GEAR UP Week Celebration. More than a hundred students, parents and educators gathered in the Capitol Rotunda to recognize the GEAR UP Students of the Year for their leadership among their peers, personal accomplishments, and academic achievements including GEAR UP Promising Appalachian Leaders in Service winners: Cole Raines, Bell County High School; Martina McClure, South Laurel High School and Emalee Patton, Owsley County High School.

Manchester Man Wrecks in Ohio

Duah Kwaku, 57, of Manchester (KY), a trucker resting in the sleeper berth of the semi’s cabin, was hurt seriously, when a tractor-trailer rig crashed on the Ohio Turnpike in a road construction zone in Maumee last week, authorities said. Kwaku, was trapped in the wreckage for about two hours before he was extricated and flown with what appeared to be serious injuries to ProMedica Toledo Hospital, Trooper Jason Lankey said.

Brads testimony is inspiring and full of hope for all those that struggle with addiction. The Celebrate Recovery Grand Opening will feature Brad and Shannon Allen’s testimony of what God has done in their lives and music by Kevin Rice and band Monday, October 3 at 6:30 PM at the Church of God Worship Center on North Highway 11.
