Fatal collision involves pedestrian

Sonia P. Askins, 46, of Williamsburg was traveling southbound on KY HWY 895 when she crossed the centerline and struck two pedestrians Joshua L. Bennett, 37, of Williamsburg and Teresa L. Ward, 40, of Williamsburg that were walking southbound. Ward was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Whitley County Coroner’s Office. Bennett was transported to the Baptist Health Medical Center in Corbin where he was treated for his injuries and released. Askins was arrested at the scene.

Fake Marshall asks woman for drug test

James Lorman, age 46, of HWY 3434 (East Bernstadt) was knocking on the door of a residence, identifying himself as a US Marshal and stating that he needed a female subject to take a drug test. When deputies arrived at the scene they noted t Lorman had a handgun in close proximity but had no identification showing that he was in fact a US Marshal. Deputies determined Lorman was not a law enforcement officer and arrested him.

Three injured in accident

A 2001 Dodge Durango driven by Royal Bradley Farmer, age 29, of Village Wood Court (London) who was not injured pulled out from Bullock Road in front of the path of 2008 Ford Fusion, driven by Davina Rachelle Sowders, age 24 of S HWY 1223 (Corbin) (who was injured and transported by Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County to St. Joseph Hospital London for treatment) that was traveling northbound on US 25.
