Oneida Man Jailed In London

Stephen J. Marcum, age 29, of North Highway 66 (Oneida) has been transferred to the Laurel County Detention Center on several charges. He has been charged with assault (second degree); operating motor vehicle under influence of alcohol/drugs/etc.; probation violation (felony offense) and probation violation (technical violation).

Gray steals gun, checks from boyfriend

Jennifer Gray

Jennifer Gray, age 32, of Maplesville Road (London) was arrested regarding alleged thefts of seven different firearms that were apparently pawned in several counties, along with five personal checks that were stolen, forged, and cashed from her boyfriend. The boyfriend drove her to the Sheriff’s office and while he reported the thefts she ran off but was located a short time later by deputies.

Crash Near Lily

A two vehicle injury traffic crash on US 25, near Lily when apparently a red Sonoma pickup traveling north attempted a left turn and collided with a silver Toyota. The driver of the Sonoma, Gary Long, age 58, of Corbin was transported to St. Joseph Hospital London for treatment of possible injuries.
The driver of the Toyota, Shannon Sams age 47, of Corbin had no injuries reported.

To make bourbon, you have to have barrels, and Kentucky distillers need a lot of them. To accommodate that demand, East Bernstadt Cooperage in Laurel County is considering a $20 million expansion. East Bernstadt Cooperage and Robinson Stave Co. are owned by the Robinson family. They make white oak barrels for bourbon, wine and other wood products.

Knox man charged after viewing child porn

A Knox County man has found himself behind bars after police say he was looking at child porn in a public library according to our sister publication The Mountain Advocate. Somerset Police arrested Ricky Gray, 30, of Cannon and charged him with one count of distribution of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor, first offense.
