“Heaven or Hell? It’s Your Choice!” will be presented Friday, August 5 from 7 PM till 8 PM at New Zion Church on Sacker. This play will open your eyes to the Word of God. A lock-in will be held after the play with various activities throughout the night. This is definitely a play you don’t want to miss.

Billboards remind drivers to stop for school buses

As a new school year approaches, Kentucky drivers will soon see reminders across the state to watch out for stopped school buses. Approximately 45 billboards started going up that warn of the danger in passing a stopped school bus. The billboards feature an extended stop sign arm on the side of a school bus with the words, “It’s not JUST a stop sign, it’s a child’s life.”

Kentucky HEALTH means a healthier state

On Dec. 30, we started the process of transforming Kentucky’s Medicaid program to produce better health outcomes, while ensuring the program’s long-term fiscal sustainability. At the same time, we are working to improve community involvement and restore dignity to Medicaid recipients by engaging them more fully in making decisions about their own health care.

Mexico, Missouri remembers Dr. Burke

Dr. Patricia Reinking Burke practiced Pediatrics in Mexico, Missouri from 1993 until 2014 when she returned to Kentucky to be closer to her family. Burke, age 55, passed away on Friday (July 22). Mexico benefitted from Dr. Burke’s talents in many ways. She gave lectures at the Middle School, organized babysitter education courses at the hospital and volunteered at the Children’s Therapy School. She sewed costumes for ballet performances, sang in the choir at church and performed in community theater. She also served many times as camp physician at Camp Barnabas, a Christian camp for kids and teens with life-threatening illnesses or disabilities. Dr. Burke was, most recently, a Pediatrician with Manchester Pediatrics in Manchester.
