FSA Offers Producers a Free Online News Service

USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) County Executive Director, Megan Moore reminds farmers in Bell, Clay, Harlan, Knox, and Whitley Counties that you now have a more efficient, timely option for receiving important FSA program eligibility requirements, deadlines and related information. Through FSA’s GovDelivery electronic news service, producers can establish subscriber preferences by choosing to receive federal farm program information by topic, by state and/or by county.

Union’s nursing class begins clinical experience

Union College nursing students Kari Baker and Abi Carnes have ceremonial candles lit by recent nursing graduate Kelli Hensley during a pre-licensure class induction ceremony into the Edna Jenkins Mann School of Nursing. Baker and Carnes are on pace to graduate in 2018 from Union’s four-year nursing program.


Union College’s newest nursing class was honored recently during a white coat ceremony commemorating the students’ induction into the Edna Jenkins Mann School of Nursing.

Farm Storage Facility Loan Program

Megan and the team at the Barbourville Farm Service Agency Service Center want to encourage participation in the FSFL program. This loan program provides low-cost financing for producers to build or upgrade on-farm storage, handling facilities, and storage and handling trucks. FSFL’s can be used for items such as drying and cooling equipment, safety equipment, cold storage buildings, hay barns, and grain bins. The FSFL program benefits producers who lack local commercial storage options or have limited marketing options for their commodities at harvest time. The maximum principal amount of a loan through FSFL is $500,000.
