Thompson to visit Historical Society

The Clay County Historical Society will hold their quarterly membership meeting on Thursday, March 9 at 2 PM at the historical society offices in downtown Manchester located just off Main Street behind the Clay County Public Library. Our featured speaker will be Clay County native and interim president of Kentucky State University, Dr. Aaron Thompson. Historical society members and the public are invited to attend.

Delta to merge with Peoples Gas

Delta Natural Gas announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to merge with an affiliate of Peoples Natural Gas (Peoples). Delta is headquartered in Winchester, Kentucky and serves approximately 36,000 customers in central and southeastern Kentucky. Peoples, headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA, serves approximately 700,000 customers in Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Kentucky. Peoples is controlled by SteelRiver Infrastructure Fund North America LP (SteelRiver).

University of Kentucky senior night celebrations were once so poignant and unique that even television networks felt compelled to cover them live. I remember Dick Enberg’s voice quivering with his signature “Oh my” immediately after he witnessed the festivities for the first time. Nowadays, with everybody staging their own versions of these farewell moments, the occasion has lost much of its luster. There’s simply not as much sentimentality, emotion, and glamour to trigger our jaded excitement levels.
