During the September Clay County School Board meeting the board voted to raise property taxes to 66 cents from the 2014 rate of 55.5 cents. The compensating tax rate would have been 56.9 cents. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has scheduled a Public Information Meeting for the proposed reconstruction of KY 2432 in Clay County. The public meeting will be held at the Clay County Middle School on Thursday, September 18 and will run from 5-7 PM.
An undercover operation by the Clay County Sheriffs Office has lead to three arrests and the confiscation of over $5000 in drugs and cash.
On September 4 an undercover deputy went to the home of Edd Brock on Highway 149 to attempt to purchase Xanax. Brock sold the undercover cop three Xanax tablets.
Upon completion of the transaction Detective Chris Curry, Sheriff Kevin Johnson, Deputy Taye Napier and State Police Trooper Josh Wilson immediately arrived at the residence.
Deputies recovered 51 packaged Suboxone strips, 474 Xanax tables and other drugs plus $1370 in cash. The estimated value of the drugs recovered was $4600.
Besides Edd Brock, age 62, two other men were arrested during the investigation. Edd Brock was charged with three counts of trafficking in controlled substance third degree (second offense).
Dewey Ealy, age 83 was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance (third degree) and tampering with physical evidence. Joe Brock, age 51 was charged with having prescriptions (controlled substance) in improper container.
A couple has been arrested after being caught shoplifting at Manchester Wal-Mart while using an infant to cover up their stolen items.
