Hughes Pleas Not Guilty, Asks for Change of Venue

Dwight Douglas Hughes entered a plea of not guilty Monday during an arraignment before Circuit Judge Oscar Gayle House. Hughes, 61, of Fogertown was indicted for murder, assault and wanton endangerment.

Major Changes to Water Ordinance Planned

Manchester City Council met Monday to discuss a change in their Water Ordinance. They came up with a draft of an ordinance that makes some major changes in fees and connections but does not raise water rates. Further action will be taken on this ordinance at the September 15 City Council Meeting.

Elk Mountain Industrial Park

The Elk Mountain Industrial Park is twelve miles and 15 minutes east of downtown Manchester on the new State Road 843 off the Hal Rogers Parkway. The park contains almost 1200 acres of Clay County land on top of Elk Mountain but only fifteen of those acres are owned by Clay County and controlled by the fiscal court.
