On Thursday, Fayette Circuit Judge Pamela Goodwine sentenced Gerardo Turcios Rodriguez to 16 years on the manslaughter charge, plus one year on the tampering charge, with both terms running concurrently for the death of Clay native, Doug Saylor.
Friday morning James R. Hacker was operating a Peterbilt tractor-trailer pulling a flatbed while hauling a forklift for Pine Mountain Logging from Hyden to London on the Hal Rogers Parkway.
Steve Collett, traveling West on Hwy 80, lost control of his Nissan Frontier Tuesday morning when he hit a ditch and struck an embankment on Horse Creek, according to Sheriff’s Deputy Taye Napier.
Collett was flown to University of Kentucky by Air Methods. The severity of the injuries are unknown at press time.
Clay County Sheriff’s Department, Kentucky State police and Horse Creek and Manchester Fire Departments assisted at the scene.
Over a hundred people were rounded up in Clay and surrounding counties last week for operating meth labs, according to sources.
Additional arrests continue as part of an ongoing federal operation assisted by local authorities.
Officials were dispatched to a Pennington Hill residence at 6:45 pm, last Thursday evening, after receiving of a call of an unresponsive man with a gun.
