Fifty-four senior citizens were evacuated from their apartments on one of the coldest nights in Clay County in decades. Authorities are investigating what happened, and who should be held accountable.
All residents of the Manchester Heights Apartments, an elderly housing complex, were evacuated Monday night after losing electricity and heat. Fifty-four residents were transported by local police, public transport and ambulance services to a nearby church and motel for warm shelter.
