Embattled Jackson County Sheriff Denny Peyman has announced that he will oppose any government attempt to ban firearms.
In a press release Thursday, Peyman said he is concerned about proposed federal legislation that could result in massive gun ownership bans and orders of confiscation.
The admitted murderer of Clay County Sheriff J. Matt Sizemore in 1969 entered a not guilty plea Monday in Clay Circuit Court.
The former owners of two Manchester pharmacies, Charles Terry Tehnet and Melissa L. Tenhet, have been indicted by a federal grand jury for allegedly distributing oxycodone from March 2011 through September 11, 2012.
Mark Hoskins, one of three newly-elected members of the Clay County School Board, was selected to be that body’s new chair Monday night. Roy Glenn Allen, also a new member, was selected vice-chair.
Three more people have been added to the list of defendants the federal government says conspired to distribute oxycodone in Clay County.
