City and County Remind Tax Payers: Discount Ends Soon

Tax collection season is in full swing at the City and County departments, and the two percent discount for property taxes will end soon, say officials.

According to the Sheriff’s Office and City Hall, November the 30^th is the last day for the 2 percent discount on property taxes.

Former Manchester Woman Arrested on ‘Black Friday’

A former Manchester woman was arrested Friday for allegedly involving her 10-year-old child in shoplifting from Belk in Richmond Centre.

According to a report in the Richmond Register, Richmond police arrested Tammy Bray, 35, for theft by unlawful taking over $500, receiving stolen property over $500, second-degree unlawful transaction of a minor and third-degree possession of a controlled substance.

A well-known Clay County Preacher was laid to rest Tuesday at Manchester Memorial Gardens.

Wade Hacker, 85, of Manchester, passed away Saturday at the Manchester Memorial Hospital, from an aneurysm in his heart.

Highway Garage Thefts Waived to Grand Jury

The case against a man accused in stealing more than $10,000 in tools and diagnostic equipment from the State Highway Garage has been waived to the Grand Jury.

This is according to sources at the Circuit Clerk’s Office.

Joseph Slone, 27, of Manchester, was charged several weeks ago with two counts of third degree burglary and theft by unlawful taking.
