KSP Find Gun in Pond
The gun suspected to have been used in a double shooting on Roots’ Branch last week has been found by Kentucky State Police Friday in Jackson County.
After investigating the shooting, KSP Trooper Jeff Senters determined the shooter to be 21-year-old Jeremy Fusner of Clay County.
Officers responded to the incident, which occurred around 10:52 AM Thursday morning. A neighbor had called 911 after one of the shooting victims, Michael D. Jones, 33, stepped out on the front porch, asking his neighbor to call police, saying there’s been a shooting.
Trooper Senters, along with Sheriff Kevin Johnson and Deputies Brian Jackson and Dewey Grubb, were the first to respond and contained the scene until other officers arrived.
A mother and her four-month-old baby girl were laid to rest Monday, after their car overturned in a river along KY 11 last week.
Kimberly Jackson, 27, of Manchester was traveling southbound on KY 11 when the 1994 Toyota Camry she was driving went out of control in a curve.
Clay County native Donald Marcum died last Wednesday at his residence in London, succumbing to cancer, which he had been battling for the last few years.
Marcum, better known to many as “Old Man”, was an avid sports fan of Clay County while being a citizen before moving to London to work at North Laurel High School as the school’s groundskeeper.
“Old Man” was an enthusiastic part of the North Laurel High School sports scene, known to many as Mr. North Laurel during his time there.
CCHS Tiger baseball coach Jason Smith fondly recalls being around Marcum growing up.
County Attorney Clay M. Bishop, Jr. is warning horse owners in Clay County to keep their horses pinned up.
Bishop says the county is concerned about the liability of horse owners whose horses may cause traffic accidents if left to wander.
The Animal Control unit has had an up tick in reports of horses running loose in the county, wandering in other property owners’ yards as well as in roadways.
