Sonya Brown Dezarn, 36, of Manchester will be having a bone marrow transplant on Tuesday to continue combating leukemia.
For the past few weeks, hundreds of Team Sonya t-shirts and rubber-band bracelets have been bought in an effort to aid Dezarn with her transplant.
Juanita C. Hibbard, 70, passed away at her home Wednesday.
Juanita worked for more than 45 years at Pat’s Pool Room, and was a staple to one of Manchester’s oldest and most recognized restaurants.
Paces Creek Elementary students had “Paws Off Drugs Day” Friday, in conclusion of their Red Ribbon Week, meant to raise awareness for drugs. The kids all dressed in yellow and black to show their school spirit and determination to not do drugs! Students dressed in all black Monday, in an effort to “Black Out Drugs”. Students dawned all camouflage Tuesday for “Be All You Can Be, Don’t Use Drugs”, and on Wednesday, they wore hats for “Use Your Head – Don’t Use Drugs”. Thursday was “We’re Too Cool for Drugs”, where all the students wore sunglasses.
The Manchester Enterprise, which has been serving the community of Manchester and Clay County since 1890, is reaching out to social network with the community members it caters to.
Clay County will conduct an Issues Discovery Forum on Monday evening, November 7, 2011 at 6:30 pm at the Clay County Extension Office. The purpose of the meeting is to gain input from Clay Countians for the four year plan of work of the Clay County Cooperative Extension Service.
