J. D. Napier, 37 of Rhodes Street in Manchester, was arrested May 24, and charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance in the first degree, wanton endangerment on a police officer, carrying a concealed weapon and tampering with physical evidence.
Preston Bowling, 71 of Bar Creek, died Monday in Lexington from injuries received from a farm accident.
Manchester Mayor George Saylor said Tuesday that the swimming pool at the Bert Combs Park would not be open this year because of repairs needed.
The Kentucky Utilities Company, which serves Manchester, has notified the state Public Service Commission (PSC) that it intends to file a rate increase request at the end of this month. The increase, if fully approved, would raise rates by 6.5 percent on residences and governments.
Crews last week placed air conditioning units on the new addition for Manchester Memorial Hospital. The four-story addition is progressing, and according to the workers is expected to be completed this winter.
