Eight People Arrested in Round Two

Eight people were arrested Thursday night in round two of a drug bust, which has jailed 25 alleged drug traffickers.

Several people were arrested in the Horse Creek community, and three people were picked up outside of Sibert’s Market, an area the Clay County Sheriff’s Department says they receive complaints about weekly.

Sheriff Kevin Johnson says he hopes to send a message to people dealing drugs in Clay County.

“If you are not going to stop dealing dope, you better find another county to move to, because we are not letting up.”

MINERS MEMORIALIZED AT FINLEY MINE SITE

It was a cold and cloudy day more than four decades ago on December 30, 1970, when a tragedy that claimed the lives of 38 miners from Clay and Leslie County occurred.

On that day, many lives were lost, and seventy-seven children were left without fathers.

Stiletto Stroll Raises Breast Cancer Awareness

Manchester Memorial Hospital Foundation hosted its first annual Stiletto Stroll Sunday at Rawlings and Stinson Park.

Participants dressed in pink, dawned pink hair, and put on a pair of high-heeled shoes, and walked a mile around the walking track for breast cancer awareness.

The idea behind the Stiletto Stroll was “To walk a mile in her shoes”.

Dozens of peole threw on heels and tennis shoes, to "walk a mile in her shoes" by raising breast cancer awareness at the first annual Manchester Memorial Hospital Foundation's Stiletto Stroll, by Project Pink.

Tire Disposal Company Opening on Little Goose

After months of paper work and preparation, Clay County will greet the opening of a new tire disposal business in the next week.

JW&S Enterprises, a tire disposal company led by Urban Creek man James Woods and Bill Shepherd, of West Virginia, will be setting up their company in the Little Goose community on Caudill Gap.
