Hospital addition moving along

Crews last week placed air conditioning units on the new addition for Manchester Memorial Hospital.  The four-story addition is progressing, and according to the workers is expected to be completed this winter.

Jenny Martin follows her dream for a degree…or three

Making the mental decision to attend college at age 45 was the easy part for Manchester’s Jenny Martin.  The hard part was physically getting out of her car to register for classes.

“For two weeks, I drove to the Somerset Community College (SCC) London Campus and sat in my car every day,” said Martin. “I was terrified to register.  Finally after those two weeks were up, I didn’t come back.”

Doug Saylor being remembered as a kind, caring person

“People loved him,” said Glenn Gray about Doug Saylor.  “He knew everybody by their first name.  He was always at the front of the store (Saylor Brothers Grocery) hugging people when they came in.”

One dies in Sunday accident at Goose Rock

George W. Gibson, 44 of Manchester, died Sunday as the result of injuries received in a two-vehicle accident on U. S. 421 South, according to Kentucky State Police.

School board wants emphasis on attendance

Clay County School Board Chair Leewood Cornett said Monday night that he was upset to read in The Manchester Enterprise that the school board lost over a million dollars this past school year because of poor attendance.
