Sixth grade Goose Rock Rocket Austin Braden scored three touchdowns en route to a 30-8 win, as the Goose Rock Rockets defeated Hacker Tuesday night at Tiger Stadium.

Seventh Grade Blanks Whitley, Eighth Grade Falls to 0-2

The Clay County Middle School seventh grade Raider football team improved their record to 2-0 on the year following their 28-0 victory over Whitley County Thursday night.

The Raiders got on the board quick in the first quarter, as running back Lonnie Braden scored on a 53-yard carry to take an early 8-0 lead following a two-point conversion from quarterback Will Sexton.

Lady Raiders Fall at Leslie

Mathis Sidelined Due to Knee Injury

Coach Jimmy Dezarn’s CCMS Lady Raider basketball team took a tough loss Monday night, falling to Leslie County in both the seventh and eighth grade contests.

The Lady Raiders’ leading scorer, eighth grader TaLaura Mathis, was injured in the Lady Raiders’ game against Whitley County last week due to a dislocated kneecap, and no timetable has been set for her return.

“Our team will be going through an adjustment period with her being injured,” said Coach Dezarn, “She will be greatly missed during her time off, but this is a chance for some of her teammates to pick her up and showcase their talents.  We definitely wish her a speedy recovery.”

The eighth grade team struggled offensively against Leslie County, falling 41-22.

Defending Champs Top Hacker

Indians Pick Up First Win, Rockets Remain Unbeaten

The number two and three ranked teams in the county elementary football program squared off Saturday morning in a defensive battle as Coach Scott Reid’s defending county champion Burning Springs Bobcats pulled out a hard fought 14-0 win over Hacker.
