Eighth Grade Raiders Fall, Seventh Grade Pulls Out a Win Against Knox

The Clay County Middle School Raider football team played very sloppily in both the seventh and eighth grade game Tuesday night at Tiger Stadium.

Despite the first-game jitters, however, the seventh grade squad was able to pull out a 24-8 win over visiting Knox County, while the eighth grade team fell 24-8.

Lady Raiders Blast Jackson

The Clay County Middle School Lady Raider seventh and eighth grade squads posted double-digit victories Monday night, trouncing visiting Jackson County at Spider Thurman Gymnasium.

Red Bird Middle Comes Away With Win

Coach Lisa Nolan’s Red Bird Middle School girls basketball team came away with a big win Monday night against Mountain View, winning 31-29.

The Lady Cardinals stormed out of the gate, jumping out to an early 12-4 lead after the first quarter.

Raiders to Host Whitley for First Scrimmage

Coach Steve Burchfield’s Clay County Middle School Raider football team kicks off their season on August 16 by hosting Knox Central, but before they do, the Raiders will take on Whitley County on Thursday for a preseason scrimmage.

The Raiders have been hard at work since late winter in preparation for their upcoming season, and Coach Burchfield is excited to see what his players will do against a different set of jerseys.

Raiders Squeak By South Laurel

First-year coach Nathan Dezarn’s CCMS Raider baseball team escaped Ramsey Ballpark with a 10-9 extra inning win over border rival South Laurel on Saturday.

Trailing 9-7 heading into the bottom of the seventh, the Raiders surged for three runs in the final inning to improve their conference record to 4-6 on the year.
