Elementary Track Starts Thursday

CCHS Senior Blake Smith clears the bar in the high jump event during Tuesday's Clay County All-Comers Meet.

Smith will be one of the CCHS Track athletes helping coach the elementary school track teams this week.

The Clay County Elementary School Track season will begin this Thursday, weather pending, according to CCHS Track coach Mitch Hawkins.

Lady Raiders Split for Week

Track Coming to Elementary Schools

All Clay County students in grades K-6 now have an opportunity to compete for their school in a track and field league this spring.

The meets will be held at the CCHS Athletic Complex starting at 6 PM each Thursday in April.  The April 28th meet will be the county championship meet, and individual medals, ribbons, and team trophies will be awarded at that meet only.

Lady Raiders Off to Hot Start

Eighth grader Lesley Roberts was named one of Clay County's Players of the Week this week for her impressive 26 strikeouts this week.
Coach Missy Roberts’ CCMS Lady Raider softball team has won four of their first five games to begin the season, ending this week with wins over East Bernstadt and North Laurel, but fell for the first time to visiting Middlesboro on Saturday.

Clay County’s Lesley Roberts pitched a nine strikeout, two hitter shutout Monday night, as the Lady Raiders downed visiting East Bernstadt 11-0 in four innings.
