Clay woman dies in one vehicle accident

Bernice Wagers Collins, 30 of KY 11 North, died last Friday as the result of injuries received in a one-vehicle accident on KY 11 North.

Brothers to be arraigned on sodomy charges

Two Clay County brothers are to be arraigned Monday, February 6, in Clay Circuit Court on charges of sodomy and sexual abuse with a person less than 12 years of age.

Kentucky Mountain Housing awarded PNC Foundation Grant

Kentucky Mountain Housing awarded PNC Foundation Grant

 

Kentucky Mountain Housing Development Corporation (KMHDC) has been awarded a grant by the PNC Foundation in the amount of $7,500. The funds will, in turn, be awarded to one or more households to assist with providing either new construction or home rehabilitation services. Additionally, the funds will be awarded to the household(s) in the form of a grant and will serve as subsidy for the cost of the services that the household receives.

MLK march held

The Fifth Annual Manchester Martin Luther King, Jr., March was held Monday.  Beginning at the St. Paul A.M.E. Church on Town Branch, the marchers walked about a mile to the Pennington Hill Park and then returned to a service and dinner at the church.

Elected officials and community leaders joined members of the church in the march.

Clay churches combine

Going against the grain of religions splitting, two local churches have combined.

Pastor Doug Abner of the Community Church said Tuesday that his church and the City of Hope Church officially became one on January 1.  Donald Sims, the pastor at City of Hope, is the lead pastor of the new church, which is called the City of Hope Community Fellowship.  It is located at the Clay County Shopping Center.
