Clay 8 Sentencing Ends, Group Looks to Appeal

Eight former officials in Clay County have been sentenced and are looking to appeal in a vote-fraud case.
William Bart Morris, 51, received 20 years in prison, while his wife, Debra, received 10 years, for their roles in a vote buying process Friday.

Thompson, Adams Sentenced to 12, 24 Years

Former County Clerk Freddy Thompson, 47, was sentenced to 12 years and 6 months in prison by United States District Judge Danny C. Reeves Wednesday.

Former Clay Superintendent Doug Adams, 59, received a sentence of 24 years and 6 months.

Propane Truck Flips, Homes Evacuated

A Propane truck that overturned on Greenbriar Road led to the evacuation of dozens of homes Monday.

Manchester Fire Chief Jamey Mills, Assistant DM Jennings Johnson, truck owner Ray Brown, and fire fighters were on scene after a Propane truck flipped into a 15 foot revenue on Greenbriar Road Monday.

STIVERS, JONES TO APPEAL 20+ YEAR SENTENCES

Two former Clay officials are preparing to file appeals on their 20 plus year prison sentences, while others await a Judge's word.

William "Al Man" Stivers, 58, received more than 24 years in prison and Charles Wayne Jones, 71, received 20 years in prison for their roles in a vote-buying conspiracy Tuesday.
