Chamber donates $500.00 to Stay in Clay for mural
The Chamber of Commerce held their regular monthly meeting Wednesday at the City Hall. Chamber President, Corbet Hensley welcomed those in attendance and introduced guest speaker, Oneida Baptist Institute President Dr. Paul Davidson.
Former Clay County football coach, James Shannon Arnett has been arrested in connection to a child pornography case.
Funeral services were held Tuesday for Ricky Sumner, a 44-year-old father of two in Perry County. Sumner died from injuries suffered in an automobile accident Friday evening. The accident occurred two miles west of Manchester on Hal Roger Parkway at approximately 2:05 pm.
A early Sunday afternoon accident involving two vehicles has claimed the life of a Clay County mother of three children.
The crash occurred at approximately 4:41 pm on U.S. 421, 3 miles west of Manchester.
Upon arrival, Kentucky State Police Officer Josh Wilson determined that a green 1997 Ford Mustang was traveling northbound U.S.421 when it crossed the centerline and struck a southbound blue 2003 Dodge Durango head-on.
According to Trooper Wilson, the operator of the Mustang, Patricia Lou Hyde, 43 of Goose Rock was not seat belted at the time of the crash. Hyde was transported from the scene to the Memorial Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
The driver of the Durango, Tommy Henson, 33, of Waynesburg, Kentucky was also not wearing a seat belt the time of the crash. Henson was transported from the scene to the Memorial Hospital where he was treated and later released.
A passenger in the Durango, Michelle Abney of Middleburg, Kentucky, was seat belted and was also transported to Memorial Hospital and later to the UK Medical Center for back injury, according to sources.
No drug or alcohol usage was suspected by either driver.
Trooper Josh Wilson was the lead investigator. He was assisted at the scene by officers from the Clay County Sheriff’s Department, Clay County EMS and Lockard’s Creek Fire Department.
Hyde is survived by three children, two grandchildren and a host of other family members. Funeral services will be held 2 pm Thursday at the Muddy Gap Baptist Church with Avis Thompson, Troy Hubbard and Judy Howard officiating.
Burial will follow in the Hubbard Cemetery at Island Creek.
