Couch makes right call, says Samples
After a long night of thunder, lightning and rain, things quieted down a bit early Wednesday morning. “There were no storm warnings from the National Weather Station,” said Superintendent Reecia Samples, “so school resumed at the usual time.”
After all buses had unloaded the children a hard rain fell for about two and a half hours. That’s all it took. The streams, creeks and rivers had more water than they could handle and their banks began to overflow.
A special City Council Meeting was held Monday evening with the 2nd Reading of Ordinance #2013-006, which set the new fire protection boundaries.

Family and friends of 33-year-old Mark Radford said goodbye after he was laid to rest at Manchester Memorial Gardens Monday.
He passed away Thursday at Manchester Memorial Hospital of complications from a heart condition, according to friends of the family.
Roxanne Smith, manager of Speedway, passed away Monday at the ST. Joseph Hospital in London.
Smith had been with the company for 20 years, spending the last 9 years here in Manchester, according to a source.
