4 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoon mild curry powder or to taste
2 tablespoons lemon juice
8 chicken drumsticks, skinned
Mix the ketchup with the curry powder and blend in the lemon juice. Rub over the drumsticks and leave to marinate for at least 30 minutes. Place the drumsticks on a rack in a roasting pan. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes or until golden brown, remove from oven and let rest before serving. Yield 4 servings.

1 cup cornmeal
1/8 cup oil
1 small onion, chopped
2 cups cream style corn
1 cup black-eyed peas, drained
½ cup grated cheese
3 slices crisp bacon, crumbled
¾ cup buttermilk
1 egg
2 tablespoon flour
1 tablespoon sugar
½ cup hot peppers, chopped (or less)
Mix and bake in a pre-heated oven 375° in a greased shallow pan for 30 minutes or longer until brown. Yield 6-8 servings.

6 pound can green beans
2 (14 1⁄2 ounce) cans diced tomatoes
1/3 pound slab bacon, cut in 1 inch pieces
Salt and Pepper
1⁄4 large onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, diced
1 cup barbecue sauce (any brand)
Fry bacon till fat releases; add garlic and onion; sauté a few minutes. Add un-drained tomatoes and simmer till juices are almost dry. Drain most of the juice from the can of green beans; add 1 cup barbecue sauce; mix together and simmer till flavors blend. Yield 24 servings.
