As Winter Comes On

As Winter Comes On

Well folks, I’m so sorry I didn’t get to write my column last week, something came up and I forgot to put it in the paper. Thanks to Rodney Miller for calling me, it’s always good for the staff for checking up on me.

Well, we had a big frost this morning and yesterday morning too, and the leaves are everywhere on the ground. Some trees don’t have any on them now. I sure hope we have a mild winter, but the good Lord knows what is best for us. As winter comes on and you need some firewood, Lee Hicks has plenty of Hickory and Oak seasoned ready for the fireplace. So if you need any, he will deliver it for you, just give him a call at 598-7812.

The grand baby is growing up so fast. He is talking a lot now. He sure is a handful and hard to keep up with. I take him to Sunday school and church.

I got to meet our new judge, Joe Asher, the other day. He is a kind and friendly man and I want to thank the county for cutting the roads off. It’s been a long time since they have been cut off. They did a good job and I want to tell them for myself, I sure appreciate them. Our county has a lot of roads and bridges to maintain and it takes a lot of work and money to keep them up, so thanks Joe and all the workers for a good job.

I have a couple of bushels of potatoes for sale, both Irish and sweet potatoes for sale. Call at 598-6348 if you need any.

A lot of people are still sick. Dellard Couch, Denver Smith, Waymon and Joyce Mills, Edgar Lawson, Marshal Cottingim, and Harley Sibert, so pray for them. The Roots Branch will be going down to the Laurel Creek Nursing Home Thursday night to have church. Remember the ones that have lost a loved one this past week, the “Cookie” France family.

Happy Birthday wishes go out this week to Goldie Cox Griffin on October 26th from family and friends. Also 78, Bradley and Melany Sizemore and Jake Denson and Amber and Del Denson. So happy birthday to all of you and may God bless you all to have many more.

I want to thank the staff of the Enterprise for helping me with my little write up, they are so good to me. Well, I’ll stop for this time. May the good Lord bless and keep you and God Bless America and may He forever hold you in His hands.

Happy Birthday Goldie Cox Griffin!

October 26th

She feels great cause she has hit the big 58!

God's Creation

God's Creation

We are having beautiful weather lately; the lord is so good to us. All the trees are so pretty in the hills. It’s amazing to look at God’s creations.

Well, the baby went back home, but we got to keep him for three days and nights. He wants to help me work on the farm machines he carries the tools everywhere. He sure is hard to keep up with, but he is a bundle of joy, and when he goes home I miss him.

There is a lot of work raising the garden, but I like working in the garden. I’ve already plowed the gardens up. I like for the ground to freeze in the winter. It kills a lot of insects when you till the ground in the winter and it won’t be too long until we will be having cold weather.

Well, I got the potatoes dug and if anyone wants any, I’ve got about four or five bushels of fresh potatoes left and I’ve got plenty of sweet potatoes. If you want some, call 598-6348.

I got a call this week from my friend, Wanda Jones. She said they would be having their 50th wedding anniversary at the Rawling and Stinson Park from 1 PM to 5 PM, so folks bring a covered dish and come and help them celebrate their anniversary. There will be gospel singing and pickin’ and grinin’.

Happy birthday wishes go out to Elana Denson, Kelly Hicks, Donald Lee Hubbard, and Cecil and Matthew Mills. They are twin boys. We wish for you all the best birthday ever, and may God bless you all to have many more.

A lot of people are sick and in need of prayer. Harley Sibert Waymon, Joyce Mills, Edgar Lawson, Dillard Couch, Junior Mills, and Sue Collins. Pray for the ones in the hospitals and the nursery homes. Pray for the families that have lost a loved one this past week. So many are passing from this life, and the main thing people can do is to be ready to go.

Well, I’ll stop for this time. May God richly bless you, and God bless America. May He always hold you in His hands.

We Turned the Heat On

We Turned the Heat On

Well folks, here at our house, we turned the heat on. This morning the frost could be seen on the house tops, the first frost this season! We can say that fall is here for sure and soon, it will be winter. The leaves are falling everywhere, its wonderful to see all the trees when the leaves turn their colors. So many different colors. Its great to see what the good Lord has made.

As He always said, it’s good to have friends. I got a letter from my good friend Sarah Pelfrey way up Virginia Way. Thank you again Sarah for everything. I’ve harvested the gourds, they are so pretty, and Sarah I’ve given away a lot. The children come and they want some, and I got a lot of hugs, so Sarah you made that happen. As the Bible says, it’s better to give and we should give him glory and praise.

I want to thank everyone for calling me and writing me, telling me how they enjoy reading my little column. The grandbaby is growing like a weed and getting into everything. I made a big fodder shock and put the pumpkins and gourds around them and the baby rolls them everywhere. He is a sight!

I’d like to say folks, we are so blessed here in America and we should be more thankful to our good Lord. He gives quite us the things we need. A lot of people burn coal or wood for heat in the winter. If you need any firewood, Lee Hicks has plenty oak and hickory cut and split up. His number is 598-7812. Call him, the price is $40 a load if you come get it, or he will deliver for $50 a load.

Happy birthday wishes go out this week to Patrisha Smith, my nephew Albert Lawson, Christopher Gibson, William Welson, and Johnny Hues. We wish all of you the best birthday ever, and may God bless you all to have many more.

A lot of people are still sick and in need of prayer. Von Minton, Waymon and Joyce Mills, Cable Wilson, Edgar Lawson, and Harley Sibert. Remember the ones that have lost a loved one this past week. Sammie Minton’s family and Eugene Hensley and family. So pray for all of these people, pray for all the ones in the hospital, and the ones that are in the nursing home.

Well, I’ll stop for this time. May God richly bless you and your family. God bless America and may He forever hold you in His Hands.

Fall is Here!

Well folks, I had plenty of running around lately going to church, the nursing home, going to folks’ home, and singing for them. There are a lot of people that are shut in and not able to go to church.  We took the baby on a big hayride. Harley and Norma Lie Sibert had a big get together Saturday at their farm. They had a big trailer that we rode on and their son, Johnny Lynn, drove the big tractor. About 40 or more went on the ride, everyone had a good time and the baby went to sleep, and they had a big dinner there too.

I’m getting a lot of the gourds in and the butternut squares in and I fixed two big fodder shocks too. Me and the grandbaby, he had a good time helping me. He is a handful.

I got a call from my good friend Sarah Peldry way up Virginia Way and she was asking about the grandbaby. It’s always good to hear from your friends. They got the Enterprise up in Virginia. A lot of people from out of state get the paper and we thank you for reading my little column each week.

A lot of people are still sick and need prayer. Waymon and Joyce Mills, Harley Sibert, Edgar Lawson, Charlie Collins, Dillard Couch, and James Brown. Remember the ones in the hospital and the ones that are in the nursing home. Remember the ones that have lost a loved one the Gloria Hensley family. So many each week, so pray for them.

Happy Birthday wishes go out to Eli Broughton, may God bless you to have many more.

Well folks, fall is here and it won’t be long before it frosts. The leaves are already covering the ground and some are turning pretty colors already. It’s amazing to see God’s creation, he made everything and he made it good.

Well, I’ll stop for now. May God richly bless you and God bless America, and may He forever hold you in His hands.

Time to Gather the Pumpkins

Well folks, we’ve been pretty busy lately gathering in garden stuff, digging potatoes, cutting corn, and making fodder shocks. There’s always something to do around the farm. It will soon be time to gather the pumpkins and gourds in. If you want some fodder to decorate around your place, call 598-6348, we’ve got plenty.

A friend of mine, Carl Reynolds from Texas, came by Saturday to visit with me. We used to go to school together and he said it was hot and dry up there. He said the temperature had been 109. That’s hot. It’s always good for friends to visit, and I got to see Delbert Woods Saturday. The good Lord sure has blessed him, he said he was 92 years young and he still fox hunts. I never saw so many trophies in my life that he had won at the shows and field trials, he had the trophies to prove it. He has a big fox pin to hunt in.

I got to see another friend last week, Mary Perkins. We grew up together on Whites Branch and the good Lord has blessed her too. We talked about how we grew up together having to walk to school. Kids today have got it good, the busses run by the door. When I went to begin school, I had to walk six miles a day, three down to catch the bus and three back home.

Happy Birthday wishes go out this week to Kim Hicks,, Harley Sibert, Lisa Williams, and Jamie Hubbard. Also, Jamie and Tabathy Hubbard will be having their anniversary this week. We wish all to have the best birthday ever, and you two have a good anniversary and God bless you all to have many more, from all your family and friends.

The potatoes are going fast, if you want any, better call 598-6348.

A lot of folks tell me they got the Enterprise. Well, thanks for getting the paper and thanks for reading my little column. I truly appreciate you all.

Well, I’ll stop for this time. May the good Lord bless and keep you and may He forever hold you in his hands and God bless America.
