Upper Horse Creek Happenings

Everyone That Is Able Needs To Grow A Garden

Well folks we are having plenty of rain lately.  Last April we only had one rain and already we’ve had about 10.  The ground doesn’t have time to dry out before it rains again, but maybe it will dry out so people can plant their garden.

It’s getting time to plant beans and corn.  A lady called me about the Big Goose Beans.  I told her she could get them at Louis Market at Hyden, KY.  They have got three kinds of Greasy Beans.  They have about any kind of garden seed you are looking for.

We have had plenty of company today, and next Sunday we will be having an Easter Egg Hunt after church and having games for the children.  Its so much fun just watching them hunt eggs.  They always have a good time.

Some people are still sick; Harlie Sibert, Waymon and Joyce Mills, and Edgar Lawson.

Happy Birthday wishes go out to Kyle Jace Munell.  He was the Big Number 1 Saturday.  He is the grandson of Caleb Wilson.  They had him a big party Saturday, so hoping you had a great one little buddy.

Remember all the ones that have lost a loved one this past week.  Pray for the ones that are in the hospital and the nursing homes.  Some are really in need of prayer at this time.  I saw my friend Roger Samples last week down at IGA and he told me how to catch a muskie fish.  I really appreciate him.  Some people won’t tell you how to catch one or where to catch one.  I don’t know why they don’t want anyone else to know.

The weather forecast is more rain today.  Well, about July or August we will be wanting some rain, but the good Lord knows what we need.

Gas keeps going up every week, and the grass sure is growing fast.  The food prices have gotten higher, along with fertilizer and garden seed.  I paid $12.60 for a pound of seed corn, so folks, when you go to the roadside places to buy garden stuff, look to pay more for them.  So as I’ve said, everyone that is able, needs to grow a garden.

Well, I’ll stop for this time.  May God Richly bless you and your family.  God bless America and me, may God forever hold you in his hands.

Boy, Look at the Gas Prices Now

Boy, Look at the Gas Prices Now

We are having Spring weather now and its wonderful to see everything come to life.  The trees are leafing out and the flowers are so pretty and the garden is coming along real well..  I’ll be planting beans and corn this coming week.

We had stormy weather this past week.  It rained and hailed.  The balls were almost as big as golf balls.  The wind blew down a lot of trees here also.  But we here in Clay County are so blessed.  In a lot of places people lost their homes.

Some people are still sick and in need of prayer: Waymon and Joyce Mills, Edgar Lawson, Tina Ann Sheets, also Linda Sue Hubbard’s grand kids, also Louis, she is Norma Lee Sibert’s grand baby.  Lets remember the ones that have lost a loved one that past this past week.  Pray for the ones that are in the hospitals and the nursing homes.  So many are sick.

I’m still looking for a metal peddle car if you have one I’d sure like to buy one.  My number is 598-6348.

The Roots Branch Church will be having their monthly singing this Saturday night starting at 7pm.  Everyone is welcome to attend.

The Hickory Chicken will be coming up any time now.  They are good if you know how to fix them.  I wrote about how you could catch a muskie fish a few weeks ago.  I want to know what to use for bait.  If you know, call me at 598-6348.  I sure appreciate it.

Boy, look at the Gas prices now.  Where is it going to stop?  Our country is in terrible shape.  Our leaders can’t agree on anything but raising their salary.  They can agree on that.  I wander who is getting the gas prices.  Just a suggestion.

Well I’ll stop for this time.  May God richly bless you and your family this week and may he forever hold you in his hands.

UHCH by Clay Lawson

Well folks, it seems like spring time again.  Its pretty and warm here today and it was pretty yesterday.  I’m so glad to see warm weather again.

I saw my friend Geraldene Smith this past week and she gave the grand baby a big wheel and he sure liked it.  That was so kind of you and we sure appreciate it.  Boots has been up there helping take care of Peyton so pray for her.

So many people are sick; Garrison, Edgar Lawson, Waymon and Joyce Mills, also Carl and Ruby Hibbard.  A lot of people are sick now with the flew or cold.  I guess some have allergies from so much pollen in the air.  I’ve got something.  I call all night long and I took a lot of medication and I can’t get rid of it.  If I get a little better, it always comes back.

Remember all the ones that have lost a loved one this past week.  The Hazel Westerfield family.  She had been sick for a long time.  Remember the ones in the hospital and the nursing home.  Pray for Mary Alice Mills.  She needs your prayers also.  As I’ve always said if you have had trouble or sickness just hold on to your will.  We need to pray more and love everybody more as the bible teacher tells us to.. You know that God is love.  I saw a lot of friends the other night down at the funeral home.

I’m still looking for a metal pedal car.  If you have one call me and I will buy it.

I wasn’t to thank the staff at the Manchester Enterprise for helping me with the write up.  They are so good to help me.  The grand baby is walking now and getting into everything.

Well I’ll stop for this time. May God bless you and your family.  God bless America and may he forever hold you in his hands.

UHCH by Clay Lawson

Well folks, I didn’t get to take my write up last week.  Something came up.  Thank you all for calling about it.

We had some pretty days last week but today its more like winter.  The weatherman said we would get some light snow tonight.  April will soon be here and we will probably get some sunshine and warmer weather.  Some folks have called and asked about Betty Rose Liniment.  Family Drug has got it for $5.00 a bottle if you want some.

The garden is coming along.  I’ve planted onions, peas, cabbage, and potatoes already.  The last week in April, you can plant sweet corn and maybe beans.  I like to work in the garden and get some dirt on my hands.  Everybody needs to grow a garden if they are ablt to.

Boy, the gas has gone up and diesel fuel has also.  You can go to Corbin and Barbourville and get gas ¢20 cheaper on the gallon.  I wonder where the price will stop?  Something should be done about the fuel prices.  We have got plenty of oil and gas here in America.  So why isn’t our leader doing something about it, instead of getting it from other countries.  It’s a shame.  Well so much for that.

I’m still looking for a good pedal car if you have one.  Call 598-6348 and I will buy it.  I need one pretty bad.

Some folks are having birthdays; Stephan Centers, Lucy Pearl Gregory, Peyton Blis Garrison, Lee Hicks and Riley Chandler Broughtan.  So happy birthday to all of you and may God bless you all to have many more.  Happy Anniversary wishes go out to Daugh and Lucy Pearl Gregory.  May God Bless you to have many more.

Some people are still sick and need your prayers; Wayman and Joyce Mills, Edgar Lawson, Celia Mills, Linda Marie Spurlock’s new born baby.  They Took it to Lexington Hospital.  Also, Allie Hoskins has been sick with pneumonia so we’re praying that you all get better.  Remember the ones that are sick in the hospitals and the nursing homes and the ones at home.  God loves you and he will be with you.

So many people out of the state get the Enterprise to keep up with things here in Clay County and we appreciate you all for reading our little write up.  I’m wanting to know what kind of lures or bait to use to catch a muskie or wall eye fish.  I’ve never caught one but I’d sure like to.  So if you out there know what to use to catch one, I’d sure like to know.  If you don’t care, call me 598-6348.

Well, I’ll stop for this time.  May God richly bless you and your family.  God Bless America and may God forever hold you in his hands.

UHCH

The last two days have been beautiful.  I saw a butterfly today.  I hope it stays warm.  I’m sure tired of bad weather.  I got a letter from my friend Sarah Pelfrey in Virginia.  It was so good to hear from her.  She sent me some gourd seed.  Bird houses and the big  bushel gourd seed and the good Lord’s will, I’ll be planting them around the first of May and Sarah, I’ll keep you psted on how they do.  I like to plant seed and watch them grow.  I’ve looked everywhere for the big bushel gourd see and I never found them.  Thanks Sarah.

I got a call last week from a man that used to live in Clay County on Ham Holler.  His name was Clarence Hubbard and he married Nancy Gregory.  They live in Hamilton, Ohio and he wanted me to put in the paper about Betty Rose Liniment.  Years ago Jim Jones sold Betty Rose Liniment.  If anyone has any to sell or know where I can get some, please call Me 598-6348.  I believe Jim made the liniment.  You can’t find much of the old remedies anymore.

Well, it won’t be long until potato planting time.  I really love spring time. I can get our in the garden and get some dirt on my hands.  It always good to hear from friends.  Good friends are worth more than gold.  We’ve gotten away from the things that we used to do.  One thing, people don’t love or care for one another.  I remember when I was a boy growing up.  When a friend or neighbor got hurt or sick and couldn’t plant or harvest his crop, all the neighbors would go and help him.  They wouldn’t do that today.  We need to get back on the old path as the Lord teaches us to do.  When you get sick now, how many people would help you today?  They would be hard to find.  But a true friend or neighbor would be there for you.  You know the Lord is good to us here in America and we need to count our blessings everyday.  We need to pray for those people in Japan that had the earthquake.

Our great grand baby sure is growing and getting into everything.  He likes to ride the big tractor and he is starting to walk a little.  He cries when I let him off of the tractor.  I’ve spoiled him.

Remember all the ones that are sick; Waymon and Joyce Mills, Edgar Lawson, Caleb Wilson, Celia Mills, also Harley and Norma Lee Sibert and Little John Wiley Sibert. Also Lillie Mae Hicks, Ronnie and Diana Carpenter, Ora Henson.  So many are sick and in need of prayer now.  Remember the ones in the nursing homes; the ones in the hospital.  Also the ones that have lost a love one.

May God richly bless you and your family this week.

The Roots Branch Church will be having their monthly singing this Saturday night starting at 7 PM.  Everyone is welcome to attend.

Well I’ll stop for this time.  May God Bless America and may he forever hold you in his hands.
