Well folks, I’m sorry about not getting to put my column in the paper last week. I was sick again, but I’m better now. Thank you all for calling me about my little write up as we think about Christmas. It’s a wonderful thing. It’s Christ’s birthday, when Jesus was born.
Too many have forgotten the true reason for the season. I know it’s good for families to get together and many exchange gifts, but we all should be glad that Jesus was born to be our Savior.
Today, we hear of so many bad things happen in the world and the country we live in. I can tell you that God loves all mankind and he will help you if you want Him to. We all have choices to make. I trust that you will choose Jesus. What would we do without Him or where could we go. Friends, it’s a thought.
I want to thank you all for the pretty Christmas cards that we got. The grand baby is growing so fast. We went to Sunday school and church too. He likes going, he plays his guitar and sings too. Today, not many parents take their children to Sunday school or church. It would make a difference in their homes and their families.
This week, birthday wishes go out for Dakota Daugh Sizemore, Jaden Eli Broughton, Kassie Williams, Donald Lee Hubbard Jr, Ethel Mae Jackson and Toby Tate Scrivner. Hope you have a great one and may the Lord bless you to have many more, from all of our family to you.
A lot of people are sick and in need of prayer: James Brown, Waymon and Joyce Mills, Edgar Lawson and Lee Hicks. Our prayers go out to the Brown family. James and Carol Brown sure need prayers, as they lost a daughter this past week and James is in the Lexington Hospital at this time. They have had their share of sorrow, so pray for them and the ones in the hospitals, the nursing homes and for all those that have lost a loved one.
Well, I’ll stop for this time. May the good Lord bless and keep you and may He forever hold you in His hands.
Well, Thanksgiving has come and gone and we had plenty of company through the holiday and we had enough turkey and ham for everyone. Nobody left hungry. We thank the good Lord for His blessings and His goodness.
My wife sure likes to cook, and she sure is a good cook. She can make homemade biscuits like my mother used to make. I call them cathead biscuits. I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving.
Well, the next holiday will be Christmas. That is Christ’s birthday. The Lord is so good to us all, we are so blessed here in America. Look at the other countries, war everywhere.
I’ll say one thing, America needs to turn back to God. I wonder myself how long will God keep on Blessing us. The Bible says that the nations that forgot God will perish. God has all power. Seems like we are at ease. We all should be watching for his coming and I believe that we are living in the last days. Any more, people don’t want to go to church and there is a great falling away.
Well, some folks are still sick and need prayer: James Brown and his daughter Sonya Dezarn, Edgar Lawson, Waymon and Joyce Mills, Landon McDaniels, Inez Smith and Von Minton. So pray for all these people, they need a touch from the Lord.
Happy birthday wishes go out to Gary Roberts. May the good Lord bless you to have many more.
I’m looking for a pony for the grandbaby. If you have one that is gentle for a 3 year old to ride, call me at 598-6348. I’ll truly appreciate it.
I want to thank everyone for reading my little column each week. Well, I’ll stop for this time. Pray for the ones in the hospitals, the nursing homes and for the ones that have lost a loved one. May the good Lord bless and keep you and may He forever hold you in His hands.
We all should be thankful everyday for God’s goodness, not just on the holidays. God has blessed us here in Clay County, look at the other states where so many things have happened. You know the Lord could send destruction on us too. We are so blessed, we should count our blessings everyday.
We had a good singing Saturday night. The grandbaby enjoyed Robert Turberfield as he played the banjo for him. He sure likes gospel bluegrass. You should see his little fingers as he tries to play his banjo.
Thanksgiving will be here next week and families everywhere will be together for this holiday, but we are to give thanks everyday and today is Veterans Day. So many brave men and women gave their lives for our freedom and we are to honor them.
Well, we have had some cold mornings this past week and most of the leaves are gone off of the trees. As I’ve always said, its good to have friends. I want to thank Roger Samples for helping me to start the truck. Roger’s dad and I worked together on the Highway Department. They are good people, so when you see somebody you know that needs help, help them if you can. Be a good neighbor.
The Roots Branch Church will be having their monthly singing this Saturday night starting at 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.
The grandbaby is growing so fast. He likes his big jeep and he sure can drive it. He is in the yard and around the barn and garden with his jeep, he keeps me busy charging it up, and he likes to play with his little boat on the pond. he runs my legs off keeping up with him. He sure is a smart little fellow.
A lot of people are still sick and need prayer: Waymon and Joyce Mills, Edgar Lawson, James Brown and Denver Smith.
Happy Birthday wishes go out this week to Brooke Ann Dieson, James D. Hicks and John Wiley Sibert. Also, happy belated birthday to Goldie Griffin. Feeling mighty fine, hit the big 59, from family and friends. We wish for all of you the best birthday ever and may the good Lord bless you all to have many more.
Remember the ones in the hospitals, the nursing homes and the ones that have lost a loved one. We wish for everyone a happy and safe Thanksgiving, from our home to yours. May the good Lord bless and keep you, and may He forever hold you in His hands.
Well folks, the clocks changed Sunday morning. It went back one hour and it will take a while to get used to it. It will be good for the kids that go to school. For many, it will be daylight for them to catch the buses.
Well, rabbit season opened Saturday and I saw a few hunters out hunting. There should be plenty of rabbits because I’ve seen a lot about every morning.
Halloween is over and I guess everyone is looking forward for Thanksgiving. We took the grandbaby out trick or treating and he was dressed up like a farmer and he was so pretty with his beard, overalls and his little hat. Everybody loved him, he got a lot of candy and things. I want to thank the Horse Creek Holiness Church for giving out candy for all the kids and Mrs. Norma Lee Sibert was working hard giving out treats for the kids, and the Horse Creek Fire Department for helping give out treats to and for everyone that give out candy and things for the children. The children were all dressed up in their pretty outfits
The grandbaby likes going to Sunday school and church. He plays his guitar with me and he really likes to play his banjo too. He is so smart. He catches on real fast, the boys get a kick out of watching him on his banjo. He is a sight. I wish everyone would take their children and grandchildren to Sunday school and church. I know if they did, it would make a difference in their lives. They should try it and see.
A lot of folks are still sick and in need of prayers: James Brown, Bobby Hacker, Waymon and Joyce Mills, Edgar Lawson, Carl Gay down Bullskin way, Inos Smith and Daugh Downey. So many each week in need of prayer, so pray for them.
Happy Birthday wishes go out this week to Tina Sheets, Glenn Smith and Talicity Hubbard and happy anniversaries go out this week to James and Kim Hicks, they are still deeply in love and that’s the way it should be, ha ha. Kim is a sight.
I want to thank the good Lord for all my friends that I have. About every week, some folks come and visit with us. Just today, the Brooks from Laurel County came by to see us and so many call and say they enjoy reading my little column and I truly appreciate you all. If you want friends, be a friend.
Well, I’ll stop for this time. From our house to your house, may God richly bless you and may the good Lord forever hold you in His hands.
