Well folks, the Lord is so good to us here in Clay County. They have had ice storms and snow storms all around us, but we have not. So many schools closed because of floods or ice storms and we didn’t have to. The Lord has blessed us so much, and let’s be thankful for all of His blessings. So many people each week tell me they enjoy my little write up. So many people from out of state get the Enterprise and they keep up with things going on here in our county and they read everything in the paper, they tell me.
The grandbaby has been really sick the last few weeks, but he is getting a little better now. He has been to the doctor every week and I’ve been sick as well. So many people are down with the flu.
So many people are still sick and in need of prayer: Waymon and Joyce Mills, Edgar Lawson, Lee Hicks and Jimmy Hicks and Carl Gay. So when you pray, remember all these and pray for us too.
We had a good singing at our church last night. The good Lord is so good to us. If you don’t have a church to attend, we invite you all to come and worship with us at Roots Branch Baptist Church. Sunday school at 10:30 a.m. and worship at 11 a.m. and Sunday night at 7 p.m. and every third Saturday night we have our singing. So come and be with us, everyone is welcome.
I want to say hello to our good friend Brother Sill Lee and his wife, and to all the Carl Gay family down Bull Skin way. Carl has been sick for a while. Our prayers that you will get better Carl. I worked with his son Kevin and got to know most of his family and also the Pelfreys way up Virginia way, they have been so good to us. And to all of you that read my column. I’m so grateful for all of you. Through the paper, I’ve made so many friends, some I’ve never seen, but they call and tell me how they look forward to reading my little column.
Happy birthday wishes go out this week to our preacher, Brother George Blair, he will be celebrating his birthday January 22 so God bless you to have many more and Fays, you bake him a big cake and we love you both. From your church family.
Remember the ones in the hospitals, the nursing homes and for all the ones that have lost a loved one this past week. From our house to your house, may the good Lord richly bless you and may He forever hold you in His hands.
Well folks, it’s the middle of January and we’ve not had much winter yet. We’ve been blessed so far. It’s like March weather here now. We have had rain the last several days and warm temperatures. The grass here is so pretty and green.
Here at our house, we all have bad colds. The grandbaby first started sneezing and coughing. We took him to the doctor, he had the strep throat and vomiting. But he’s getting a little better now and I got what he had, sore throat, coughing and sneezing and vomiting. A lot of people have the flu. It must be a virus going around, so pray for us that we will get better.
Remember all the sick: Waymon and Joyce Mills, Edgar Lawson, Lee Hicks and Jim Hicks and a lot of folks in church are sick with the flu, so pray for them.
Happy anniversary to Landon and Virginia McDaniel this week. Happy birthday wishes go out this week to Clay and Gertrude Lawson and Johnny “Poss” Gregory the 14, Marus Trenton Lewis, Robert Turblefield, Gary Edward Metzger, Daugh Gregory and Carmen Fields. May the good Lord bless you to have many more.
We should stop and count our blessings each and every day the Lord is good to us. The grandbaby is so good in church, he acts like a grown up. You should see him sing and play and he learns so fast.
Pray for all the sick and shut-ins, the ones in the hospitals, the nursing homes and for all who have lost a loved one. May the good Lord bless you and may He forever hold you in his hands.
Well folks, I’m waiting for spring time. Some folks like fall and winter but I like spring. When the trees start to bud and the leaves start coming up and the grass gets greener its a time when everything comes to life. There will be plenty of work to do on the farm like mowing the lawn and putting out the garden, but the grandbaby said he would help me. He likes to hoe the garden stuff. But I wonder when the sun gets hot how long he will help me. But he is tough, he likes brushing his pony and feeding the pony sweet feed.
I’m trying to teach him the right things to do. He likes it here on the farm. He helps me feed the chicken and gather the eggs. A lot of children don’t know anything about growing up on the farm. He and I go to the barn and he gets on the big boat and he wants to go fishing. He’s got anything that a child wants and I have spoiled him big time. We go to Sunday school and church and he is a good boy and he plays his guitar and sings too.
Happy birthday wishes go out to Wendy Beard way up Greensburg and may the good Lord bless you to have many more.
Pray for all the sick: Lee Hicks, Waymon and Joyce Mills, Edgar Lawson. So pray for them, folks.
The Hima Post Office will be changing hours starting January 14. The hours will be 9 – 11 a.m. Monday through Friday and on Saturday 7 a.m. – 1 p.m. The post offices are cutting back.
I want to thank everyone for reading my little column. Remember the ones in the hospitals and the nursing homes. Pray for all the ones that have lost a loved one. May the good Lord bless you and may He forever hold you in his hands.
Well folks, Christmas has come and gone. Here at our house, we had a good Christmas. Everyone was happy and all the children had a good time. We had a good dinner and we had a lot of the family Christmas day. The grandboy got what he told Santa to bring him. He got excited when he opened his gifts.
We want to thank the Pelfreys way up Virginia way for the gifts they sent to us and Raden. Sarah, we can’t thank you enough for what you have done for us. I got a camera for Christmas, and the good Lord willing, we will send you some pictures of the grandboy. He’s growing up so fast and he catches on so quick. He can make chords on his guitar and sings up a storm sometimes. He’s not three years old and he can count and say his ABCs and when I’m playing the guitar, he watches my fingers as I make chords. Maybe one day he will be a banjo player. I sure hope so.
Well folks, the New Year will be here very soon and I guess some people are making resolutions for the coming year. Going to Sunday school and church should be one of them.
Our elected officials are passing bills and making changes. They should put prayer back in our schools, I believe it would help. It sure used to. People today need to show love to one another and be kind to one another. As the bible says, Love thy neighbor as thyself. Do unto them as you would have them do to you.
Some folks are still sick and need prayer: Edgar Lawson, Waymon and Joyce Mills and Inez Smith.
Happy birthday wishes go out to Bradley Wilson, Sarah Gibson, Cody Denson, Preston Roark, Larry Smith, Diana Brown, Jonathan Denson, Aaron Smith and Wendy Beared. So happy birthday to all of you and may God bless you all to have many more.
We wish for everyone a happy and prosperous New Year and thanks to all of you that get the Enterprise and for reading my little column. May the good Lord bless all of you. Pray for all the sick, the ones in the hospital and nursing home and for all the ones that have lost a loved one. God bless America and may He always hold you in His hands.
We sure have been blessed here in Clay County.
We sure have been blessed here in Clay County. It’s almost Christmas time and its 60 degrees here today. But we don’t know how long the pretty weather will last. Enjoy it while we can.
A lot of folks have put up the pretty lights around their homes. The city has done a good job putting up the decorations and lights at town, they are so pretty. The children like to see them. Christmas is a wonderful time of the year, its Christ’s birthday, when our Savior was born.
The grandbaby got some of the things he wanted for Christmas. He wanted a pony, a bridle and saddle and he got them. He likes the pony and has already rode the pony. A boy needs a pony here on the farm. He is a good boy, he likes going to Sunday school and church. He acts like a grown up and everyone at the church loves him. So many children don’t even know who Jesus is because they have never been to Sunday school or church.
Our prayers go out to all of the families that lost their children at the school where a young man killed his mother and 26 more at the school, 20 were young children. We wonder what gets in people’s mind to do awful things like this.
Remember the James Brown family. James and I were good friends. Our prayers go out to them, he surely will be missed. Some folks are still sick and need prayer: Waymon and Joyce Mills, Lee Hicks and Edgar Lawson.
Some folks are having birthdays this week: Shane Gibson, Jordan Sizemore, Victor Gregory and Oakley Ray Gregory on Christmas day. Happy anniversaries go out to George and Fay Blair, Donald Lee and Anna Hubbard, Harold and Trish Smith, and Lee and Lillie Mae Hicks. So to you all, may the good Lord bless each of you to have many more. We love you all, from all your families and friends.
Tina Ann Sheets wants to say hello to her grandson Jaxson Smith and we would like to say hello and a merry Christmas to our family up Michigan way and up Indiana way too. From our house to yours, we wish for you all the best Christmas ever. May the good Lord bless you and God bless America and may He forever hold you in his hands.
