“Grandboy sure is growing”
I’m sure glad that we are getting a break from the heat and we got some rain and we really needed it. It was so dry, the creeks all dried up. But the good Lord knows what we need.
The grandboy sure is growing up so fast. He makes friends with everybody he meets. He is a sight. Granny gets after him with a flyswat and he comes running to me for help. He likes going to Sunday school and church. The children most of the time follow after the things their parents teach them and do the things they do. People need to teach their children about the Lord and take them to Sunday school and church. We hear every week about our young people passing from this life, and it’s getting worse. There is a better way for them, and Jesus is that way.
So many folks still sick: Waymon and Joyce Mills, Edgar Lawson, Delbert Collins, James Gregory and Sammie Ray Gregory. So pray for them. Also, Brenda Hicks need prayer. Don’t forget to pray for all the ones that have lost a loved one this past week. Remember the ones in the family and nursing home.
There will be a graveyard meeting Sunday at the Mill Creek Cemetery starting at 11 a.m. Everyone is welcome to come.
Happy birthday wishes go out this week to Madisian Gregory way up Michigan way and Sarah Sibert and happy anniversary to Adam and Brandie Smith. We wish the best for you all, may God bless you to have many more.
I want to thank each one out there for reading my little column. So many people tell me they read it.
Well, I’ll stop for now. May the good Lord bless and keep you and may He forever hold you in His hands.
Well folks, it’s still hot and dry and we need rain. The gardens are drying up and the yards will almost burn. You talk about hot, it’s been hot the last week, 105º and here it was 109º. It’s hard to believe.
The water here in the little branches have dried up. Maybe we will get some rain this coming week. I sure hope so, the beans are turning yellow and the sweet corn is twisting-up it’s so dry.
Some folks are sick and need prayer: Delbert Collins, Edgar Lawson, and Waymon and Joyce Mills. So pray for them. Remember the ones that have lost a loved one this past week: The Arlie Rhodes family, the Edd Brock family, and the Spurlock family. So many each week, so pray for them too.
I want to thank the staff at the Enterprise for all they do for me. They are so helpful, and for all who read my write up. So many call and tell me they do. I want to thank Judy down at the Enterprise. She has made the grandbaby her friend. He doesn’t forget anything. When I get the pen and paper and he sees me, he says “Judy papa.” He’s smart to be two years old, he plays the banjo and the guitar, and he loves going to Sunday school and church.
I don’t have any birthdays this week.
Our roads up here on Roots Branch needs patching and the bushes need to be cut-off. I hope our county judge will do that for us before winter sets in.
Well, I’ll stop for this time. May the good Lord bless and keep you and may He forever hold you in His hands.
Well folks, its still hot and dry here at our place and we need rain bad. Congratulations go out to Dalia Smith Harr. She will be going to veterinarian school. She is the daughter of Kenny and Rene Smith and the grand daughter of Boots Smith. I know you will do good in school, Dalia. Boots and I go back a long way. We went to school together at the little one room school at Whites Branch. The schoolhouse is still standing and its in good shape and they have church in it, not many are left. It’s an old landmark and when you pass the schoolhouse, it brings back many memories.
Folks, the decendents of Charlie and Delia Bennard Minton and William Gregory and Mary Brown Gregory family will be Saturday June the 30 starting at 11:00 a.m. at the Beech Creek Park. Everyone come out.
Happy birthday wishes go out this week to Demetrius Allen and Daugh Wesley Sizemore, Christy Wright, and Alisha Natalie Gregory and Madison Gregory. These two are Daugh and Lucy Pearl Gregory grandkids, so we wish for you all the best birthdays and God bless you all to have many more.
The grandboy sure is growing up so fast and we take him every Sunday to Sunday school and church. This past week, the mail man brought him a big package and it was from our friends the Pelfreys way up Virginia way. Sarah, that was so good of you to get the things for him. He gets the book and he brings it to me to read it for him and he wore his little outfit to church today. I’m trying my best to bring him up the right way. He is a handsome little fellow and everybody loves him, he is so friendly, and in church he acts like a grown up. Folks, it’s how you teach them.
The beans are almost ready to pick and they are good white half runner beans if you want any call 598-7812.
Here is a picture of a great grandson. He is growing and doing good, his parents are Adam and Brandie Smith. He’s two weeks old and he’s got as much hair as I do and he’s a cute little fellow.
Some folks are still sick and need prayers: Waymon and Joyce Mills, Orie Henson, Edgar Lawson, and Delbert Collins, so pray for them. Remember the ones in the hospital and nursing homes and the families that have lost a loved one. Our prayers go out to the John Crawford family.
Well, I’ll stop for this time. May God bless you and may He forever hold you in His hands.
Well folks, we have a lot to be thankful for. The Lord is so good to us. We had a good rain last night and this morning too, and we sure needed it. The corn and beans are growing good. As I’ve said, the Lord knows what we need and we should be more thankful. The grandbaby is growing up so fast, and he makes friends everywhere he goes.
Judy, who works at the Enterprise, gets him something every Monday when I take my write up down there, and he doesn’t forget she has got a friend. He’s just a little past two-years-old and when I write my column, he says Judy. He knows every person he comes in contact with. He is a sight.
We take him to Sunday school and church, every time. He has learned how to behave himself, you should see him play the guitar and pat his feet. You know if everyone took their children and grand children to Sunday school and church it would make a difference in their lives later on. People today don’t take time to go to church and to worship the Lord, but one thing for sure, we will take time to leave this world.
Some folks are still sick and in need of prayers: Waymon and Joyce Mills, Edgar Lawson, Harley Sibert, Denver Smith, Delbert Collins, Charlie Collins and Ora Henson.
We want to thank some man from Knox County who helped us last Wednesday. He said he was a Davis. There are some good people still left in this world. Remember the sick, the ones in the hospital, and the nursing homes too.
Our boat motor quit last Wednesday on the river and this man, whom we didn’t know, towed us down the river with his boat and we appreciate it so much. So if you see someone in trouble, lend them a hand. Be kind to someone who is down. Always try to do a good deed if you can, the Lord will bless you for it.
We had a good singing Saturday night at church.
It’s time once again for the homecoming for the descendants of William Gregory and Mary Brown Gregory and Charlie Minton and Delia Barnard Minton, June 30th at Buck Creek Park starting at 11:00 a.m., so everyone start making plans to come out and get together once again with your family and friends. Everyone is welcome. The graveyard service will be July 1st out at the Charlie Minton Cemetery starting 11:00 a.m.
Well, I’ll stop for this time. May the good Lord richly bless you and may He forever hold you in His hands.
We are having wonderful weather lately and we need a little rain but the good Lord knows what we need. I’ve worked out the entire garden and we planted more beans this week and we had some garden vegetables already. Cabbage, onions, peas, and new potatoes already and it won’t be too long until we will have beans and tomatoes.
We’ve got a big garden. The sweet corn is growing too. I’ve set some cabbage plants for late cabbage. It keeps one busy around the farm. There’s plenty of work to be done, but I like working out on the farm.
We had all the grand kids over this weekend and they are a handful keeping up with them. They have worn me out. I took them to church and Sunday school. People need to go to church. So many of our young people don’t go any more.
We hear of so many each week passing from this life. People, there is a better way of life for all, and Jesus is that way. God gives each person a choice and we choose what we do in life. My advice for all is choose the Lord he loves you.
A lot of folks are still sick and in need of prayer. Waymon and Joyce Mills, Edgar Lawson, Denver Smith, Delbert Collins, Charlie Collins, Orie Henson, Harley Sibert, and Jackson Wayne Smith. So pray for all the people. Remember all the ones in the hospital and the nursing homes. Pray for all that have lost a loved one this week.
Our new great grandbaby was born last week at Saint Joseph Hospital at London. He weighed eight pounds and three ounces.
Things sure have changed in the last few years. Places where I leased land to farm corn and hay looks like a wilderness with trees big enough to climb. People have quit farming around here. The farms are growing up and it’s a shame to see the changes that people have made.
I want to thank everyone for reading my little write up. So many people call and tell me they enjoy reading the Enterprise.
They have got a good staff working there. We have a lot of critters here at the farm. Squirrels, rabbits, ground hogs, turkeys, and deer and some I don’t like are the snakes.
Well, I’ll stop for this time. May the good Lord bless and keep you and may He forever hold you in His hands.
