Happy birthday to Bro. Charlie Goodman, pastor of Macedonia Baptist Church. Cake and ice cream were served before last Sunday night's evening service to celebrate.
Brother Charlie Goodman has begun a new weekly audio series. Just go to www.macedoniabaptistchurchky.com and click on “The Weekly Walk in the Word.” You can enter your e-mail address to receive the podcast. It will automatically download to iTunes on your computer. Bro. Charlie will also be on WTBK the week of March 7th through the 11th.
This past weekend was my and Rachel's birthday weekend. We celebrated with a birthday supper, a day of shopping, and eating out with family and friends. I wore the hat at El Cazador and received a face full of whipped cream...twice! It's nice how they give you time to clean up before smearing it on that second time...
I would like to wish a happy birthday to Jim Taylor on March 5th. We all look up to Jim at church...literally! Juanita Westerfield also celebrates her birthday on the 5th. Happy birthday to Eula Mae Ray on March 4th. Adrienne Sibert, and P. J. Campbell both have birthdays on the 8th.
Happy 4th birthday to Taylor Faye Goodman on March 5th. Taylor is the daughter of Bro. Charlie and Rhonda Goodman.
Happy 7th birthday to Nathan Smith, also on the 5th. Nathan is the son of Shade and Kristy Smith. Hope you all have a great day.
I have heard the frogs croaking about three days in a row now and I've always been told that's a sign of spring as in “when you hear the frogs, it's time to go barefoot”. I bet Rodney could tell us all about old-time weather sayings. My grandma would talk about all the different “winters” we would have in the spring. We would suffer through Redbud and Dogwood winters and then came the last one, “Blackberry Winter” around the middle of May and after that you could always count on the warm weather staying put.
On that thought, I'll close with some quotes from Terri Guillemets: “My favorite weather is bird-chirping weather.” “I think the world really boils down to two types of people – those who see shapes in cloud formations and those who just see clouds.” “Weather is a great metaphor for life – sometimes it's good, sometimes it's bad, and there's nothing much you can do about it but carry an umbrella.”

I am always writing things down on index cards and sticking them up around the house. I lost one of those special birthday announcements so I searched all over the house until I found it and just in time: Happy first birthday to Alexis Allen. Her birthday couldn’t be sweeter because it was on Valentine’s Day!

In Macedonia Baptist Church news, we had our 5th Sunday Fellowship Meal this past Sunday evening. It's always nice to share a meal and visit with your church family. Welcome to our newest members, Clifford and Wilma Grubbs.
Bro. Charlie Goodman's Sunday School class began the study, “The Journey of a Lifetime.” This is an overview of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. This past Sunday was the introduction, so it's not too late to join in. Sunday School begins at 10:00 am.

Over the last two weeks, we've covered board games and movies. This week we'll move on to another fun thing to do at home, especially if you're female (and it's sure not cleaning the house!) How about a little online shopping?
Www.etsy.com is a site where you can buy all manner of handmade goods. It's got it all: purses, jewelry, artwork, toys, clothing and home decor. There are interesting categories such as geekery or vintage. You can even shop by color or from local merchants.
Www.eyeslipsface.com is a fun place to peruse makeup. Most items are only $1.00. Their studio line sells for $3.00 an item. There are some neat gift ideas like a 100 eyeshadow tray for only $10.00.
www.thinkgeek.com has all sorts of items you've never heard of before. How about a mini fridge that holds one can of pop and is powered by your computer. Or a rear view mirror that hooks onto your computer screen so you can see who is sneaking up behind you. I am constantly amazed by their inventory. Bacon flavored lip balm? Check. Walking robot pencil sharpener? Got it. Zombie Magnetic Poetry Kit? It's there. Enough said.
February 2nd is Ground Hog Day, so whether the ground hog sees his shadow or not, have a good week, and remember: “Don't knock the weather; nine-tenths of the people couldn't start a conversation if it didn't change once in a while.”~Kin Hubbard.
