The Burning Springs Homemakers met at my house for our November meeting. After a potluck lunch, Amy Smith gave the lesson, “A Nifty, Thrifty, White Christmas.” The Holiday Ideas 2010 packet was full of recipes and simple, inexpensive and new craft ideas for fall and Christmas. Those attending were Yvonne Westerfield, Rometta Hensley, Charlene Baker, Virgia White, Gloria Smith, Amy Smith and myself.

I made it out to the 17th Annual Madrigal Dinner last Thursday night. It was a full house and the food, decorations and entertainment were top-notch as always. Aldous Huxley said, “Most human beings have an almost infinite capacity for taking things for granted.” Isn’t it the truth? When we become sick, we appreciate our health. When we lose something, we rejoice when we find it.
Wouldn’t it be great if we could learn the habit of being thankful for what we have when we have it?
Frank A. Clark said, “If a fellow isn’t thankful for what he’s got, he isn’t likely to be thankful for what he’s going to get.” This Thanksgiving season, let us all, me included, remember to give thanks for our many blessings. Life, family, friends, the sunshine and the rain, everything we receive is a gift from God. Happy thanksgiving to all and I wish you all a good week!
