Dallas Hollin, Jr.

Forsyth-Dallas Hollin, Jr., 1st SGT Ret., 50, of Forsyth passed away at 6:14 a.m. Friday, June 17, 2011 from injuries sustained in a traffic accident.

Services to celebrate Dallas’ life will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home with Pastor Andy Glass officiating.  Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at the funeral home.  Interment with full military honors conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard will be in Graceland Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Maroa Christian Church.

Dallas was born March 6, 1961 in Shelbyville, Indiana, the son of Dallas Hollin, Sr. and Wilma (Bullard) Spears.  He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army retiring after twenty-six years of distinguished service.  Dallas served in Bosnia, Kosovo, and Kuwait.  He was previously employed with USA Trucking and currently employed at ADM.    He was a member of the Maroa Christian Church.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, Harley-Davidson Motorcycles, wrestling and rough housing with his sons, and spending time with his grandchildren.  He married Viola Samiappan June 23, 1990.

He leaves behind Viola his beloved wife six days shy of their twenty-one year anniversary, children, Dallas Hollin III of Forsyth, Dakota Elbert Grant Hollin of Forsyth, Danielle Nicole Hollin of Beverly Hills, Florida, Derrick Jeremiah Hollin of Decatur, and Darren James Howard Hollin of Decatur, five grandchildren, father, Dallas Sr. of Osgood, Indiana, mother, Wilma Spears of Radcliff, Kentucky, grandmothers, Lucinda Hollin of Manchester, Kentucky and Nellie (Bullard) Miller of Greensburg, Indiana, brothers, Jeffrey Hollin of Millroy, Indiana, and Elbert Grant Hollin and wife Lisa of Osgood, Indiana, sisters, S/Sgt. Mary Redd and husband Michael of Fort Wainright, Alaska and Amanda Murray and husband Brad of New Point, Indiana, half brothers, Brian Hollin and Travis Hollin both of Manchester, Kentucky, and step-brothers, Donald Spears and wife Karen of Cincinnati, Ohio and Darryl Spears of Milan, Indiana.

He also will be sadly missed by his sisters-in-law, Mani and husband Shanmugam, Sara and husband Baskaran, Ruth and husband Suppiah, and Devi and husband Surendran and brothers-in-law, Sam Samiappan and wife Ruby, Raj Samiappan and wife Alice, George Samiappan, and Jack Samiappan and wife Pushpa all of Singapore.

He was reunited in Heaven with his grandfather, Elbert Grant Hollin, step-brothers, Ronnie and Randy Spears, and mother-in-law and father- in-law of Singapore.

Harold Smith

Harold Smith was born on May 16, 1943 in Clay County, Kentucky, the son of Royd and Amanda Lipps Smith who preceded him in death.  He was united in marriage to Carolyn Killion, his wife of 47 years, who survives.  He is also survived by two children, Tamera Smith Riley and husband Rodney of Woolum, Kentucky and Keith Smith and fiancée Victoria of London, one sister, Bonnie Allen of London, three grandchildren, Tyler, Michael, and Noah, plus a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

Harold was a graduate of Cumberland College and was a retired Insurance salesman, a member of the Clay Masonic Lodge, and a member of the Martins Creek Baptist Church.

Harold Smith departed this life on Sunday, June 12th, 2011 being 68 years and 26 days of age.

Funeral services were held Wed., June 15th at Bowling Funeral Home with David Smith and Morris Thompson officiating.  Burial was in the Locust Grove Cemetery at Keavy, Ky.

Visitation was Tues. July 14th at Bowling Funeral Home in London.

Dorthy Smith

3-10-1949 – 5-18-2011

We would like to take this time to thank each and everyone that come to visit, brought food, gave money, sent flowers, angels, pictures, etc, and that comfort us during the sudden death of our love one and thanks to all who sung, and to Rev. Bob Estep and Rev. Wanda Phillips

Wanda Phillips, 68 Manchester, KY left this world on May 25th, 2011.  She was a soldier in our eyes she fought an unbeatable battle. Wanda stood strong, loved all those who stood beside her during battle and suffering. Wanda held our Lord and Savior most dear to her.

She is survived by her loving granddaughter, whom she raised & loved with her heart and soul, Nocona Phillips. She also leaves behind one daughter Cherokee Phillips and granddaughter Nikkia Phillips.

Wanda also leaves behind two- great grand babies. Avonni Phillips and Christopher Klinert, a very special niece, Leslie Hooker, along with several other nieces and nephews.

Phillips is survived by two sisters, Joan Hobbs and Judy Lunsford, and one brother, Larry Lunsford. Wanda was preceded in death by her older brother Albert Lunsford.

Services will be conducted June 16th at Morgan Branch Church of God with Scotty Jewell officiating at 6 PM for family and friends.

Johnny Hobbs

Mr. Johnny Hobbs, age 55 of Manchester, passed away Wednesday, June 8th, 2011 at the UK Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.  He was a retired diesel mechanic and a veteran of the Marine Corp.

He is survived by his father and mother: Bill and Jackie Hurd of Manchester, and 3 brothers: Kenneth Jeffrey Hobbs and his wife Sheila of Manchester, Lloyd Dean Cottongim and his wife Gail of Louisville, Kentucky, and Billy Hurd, Jr. and his wife Sheila Kay of Manchester.

Funeral Services for Mr. Johnny Hobbs will be held on Friday, June 10th, 2011 at 12 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel.  Rev. Theodore Brewer will be officiating.  Burial will follow in the Tanyard Cemetery in the Tanyard Community.

Visitation will be Friday, June 10th, from 10:30 AM until the funeral hour at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel.

Rominger Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
