Robert Lee Wombles

Robert Lee Wombles, age 23, passed away at his home in Burning Springs, KY. He was born January 14, 1988 and left this world January 19, 2011. He was disabled due to Duchenne’s Muscular Dystrophy. He was a 2006 graduate of Clay County High School and worshipped at Pine Grove Church of Christ.
He was the son of Estill Wombles and Patsy Johnson Wombles. He is preceded in death by his father Estill Wombles and two uncles Johnny B. Wombles, Manuel Wombles and grandparents Carty and Ida Wombles.
He is survived by his mother: Patsy Johnson Wombles and the following half brothers and sisters: Donnie G. Johnson of Hazard, KY, Natasha Wombles of Burning Springs, KY, and Kenny W. Jones of Goose Rock. He is survived by his aunt and uncles Kimberly Johnson Waegaert and Val Waegaert of France, Ray Wombles of Burning Springs, KY and Roy Hibbard of Tyner, KY and by his grandparents: Orvas and Laura (Metcalf) Johnson of Oneida, KY. He is also survived by lots of cousin and great aunt and uncles.
He was an inspiration to all who knew him. He was loved by all. He had an outlook on life that we all need to live by. He always had a smile on his face and not complaining about having to spend his life in a wheelchair. He loved all people. He had to get as much as he could out of each day of his life. He will be dearly missed.
Funeral services for Robert Lee Wombles were held Saturday at 2:00 PM at the Britton Funeral Home Chapel with Jeremy Bowling officiating. Burial followed at the Johnson Cemetery at Oneida.
Visitation was Friday evening at the Britton Funeral Home.

Mrs. Dorothy Penner

Mrs. Dorothy Penner, age 83 of Manchester, passed away Wednesday, January 19th, 2011 at the Laurel Creek Health Care Center. She was born December 17th, 1927 in Jamestown, New York to the union of William and Mabel Jenkins VanGuilder. She was a homemaker and a member of the Beech Creek United Methodist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Mabel VanGuilder, her husband, Rev. Merritt “Don” Penner, her grandson, Alan Dezarn and her great grandson, Donnie Feltner.
She is survived by her children, Marvis Dezarn and her husband Bill of London, Marcia Dezarn and her husband Raymond of Manchester, and Marlene Bowling of Manchester. Also surviving are these grandchildren, Don Dezarn, Kimberly Goodrich, Carol Smith, Pam Brown, Tiffany Bell, Steven Bowling and Sondra Bray. 11 great grandchildren and 8 great, great grandchildren, also survive.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Beech Creek United Methodist Church.
Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Penner were  Friday, January 21st, 2011, at 3 PM in the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Jamie Brunk officiating. Burial  followed in the Beech Creek Cemetery in the Beech Creek Community.
Visitation was Friday, January 21st, after 1 PM, at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel.

Beve Junior Smallwood

Beve Junior Smallwood, age 51, of Big Creek, passed away Wednesday at the Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services for Beve Junior Smallwood were held Sunday at 2:00 PM at the Britton Funeral Home Chapel with Dwayne Yost and Sill Lee officiating. Burial followed at the General Bowling Cemetery at Marcum.

Andrew Hacker

Andrew Hacker, age 78 of Burning Springs, departed this earthly home and went to his heavenly home on January,15, 2011 after a long illness.
He was born June 15, 1932 to the union of William Hacker and Mary Ellen Childs Hacker. By occupation, he was a worker in the under ground coal mining industry and a farmer by trade.
Andrew was an avid outdoors-man, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and he collected knives and guns. He loved bluegrass and country music. But most especially, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Andrew was united in marriage to Minnie Blanton, on November 2nd, 1963. Andrew is survived by his wife of 47 years, Minnie Blanton Hacker, and the following children, Rhonda Jean Buttery (James) of London, Margie Faye Smith (Rufus) of Burning Springs, Phillip Andrew Hacker of Burning Springs, Harold Hacker of Burning Springs and Delbert Lee Hacker (Kim) of London. He is alos survived by five grandchildren, Harold Hacker of Burning Springs, Jennifer Hacker of Sexton s Creek, Travis Hacker of Burning Springs, Brenda Lee Buttrey of Massachusetts and James Edward Buttrey of London. One great-grandson, Gabriel Alexander Hacker of Sextons Creek.
He is also survived by the following brothers, Bradley Hacker of Hamilton, Ohio, Wilburn Hacker (Betty Ann) of Shepherdtown, Ky, Tinsley Hacker of Laurel Creek, Wylie Boone Hacker (Wanda Faye) of London, and Archie Hacker of London.
Andrew was preceded in death by his son Robert Wayne Hacker and the following brothers and sisters. McKinnley Hacker, Birchel Hacker, Delila Hacker, Dovie Hacker Bowling and Lillian Hacker Blanton. He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews to mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Andrew Hacker were held Wednesday, January 19th, 2011 at 2 PM at the Britton Funeral Home Chapel with his life long family friend, Rev. Frank Peters, officiating.
Burial followed in the Lewis Cemetery located at the Terrell’s Creek Community in Jackson County.
Visitation was held Wednesday, January 19th, 2011 after 12 PM, at the Britton Funeral Home.
This obituary was written and submitted by his niece, Angela Irene Hacker of Shepherdtown, Ky.

Ancil Dees

Ancil Dees, age 85, of Centerville, Indiana formerly of Clay County passed away Saturday in Indiana.

He leaves surviving the following brothers and sisters: Ruby Dees Black; Raleigh Dees; Midred Davis; Shirley York; Brilla Rawlings; Casper Dees; Dennie Brown; and Arlie Dees.

Funeral servies will be held Monday at 1:00 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jeremy Bowling officiating.  Burial will follow in the Cress cemetery on Robinson Creek.  Visitation will begin at 11:30 AM Monday at the Funeral Home until funeral time at 1 PM.
