Charles Smallwood, age 59, passed away Jan 15, 2011 after a long illness. He was a former resident of Perry County. He was born to Alonzo and Elizabeth Smallwood in Leslie County on Jan 27, 1951
By occupation, he worked in the surface mining coal industry. Companies he was employed at include: Falcon Coal Company, Arch Minerals, Leslie Resources and International Coal Group. Charles valued the many friendships with co-workers he had throughout the years.
He enjoyed traveling, boating, classic cars, knife collecting, and especially spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Bobbie Morgan Smallwood, son, Steve Smallwood (Jessica) of Hazard, Ky., and daughter Jennifer McIntyre (Bryan) of Lexington, Ky. Two grandchildren Kaylee and Kara Smallwood of Hazard, Ky. Also survived by his mother Elizabeth Smallwood, brother Senior R. Smallwood, and sister Deanna Napier, all of Bear Branch, Ky., and sister Janet Stidham of Wooton, Ky. He was preceded in death by his father Alonzo Smallwood, and two brothers, Kenneth and James Smallwood.
Funeral services for Charles Smallwood will be held Tuesday at 11:00 AM at the Britton Funeral Home Chapel with Billy Joe Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at the Collins Cemetery at Bear Branch, Ky.
Visitation will be Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the Britton Funeral Home at Manchester.

Annie Henson, age 66, of Stamping Ground, KY. formerly of Clay County, the wife of Curt Henson, Jr., passed away Friday at her home.
Funeral services for Annie Henson were held Monday at the Britton Funeral Home Chapel with Ted Eversole officiating. Burial followed at the Manchester Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Benny “Monk” Smith, age 90 of Manchester, passed away Friday, January 7th, 2011 at the Laurel Creek Health Care Center. He was born Sunday, January 18th, 1920 in Clay County, Kentucky to the union of Elbert and Mollie Farmer Smith. He was a member of the Horse Creek Baptist Church, a retired mechanic, he was a basketball referee and baseball umpire for many years even on the collegiate level, and was deputy coroner and coroner for Clay County for many years.
His children survive him: Chester Benny Smith of Manchester, Elbert Wayne Smith of Manchester, and Betty Sharon Roberts of Manchester. Also surviving are these grandchildren: Dennis Smith, Jennifer Chadwell, Benny Dewayne Smith, Glenn Roberts, Mark Roberts, Stephen Roberts, and James Michael Roberts, and 13 great grandchildren: Savannah Smith, Lauren Chadwell, Thomas Chadwell, Codi Roberts, Macy Roberts, Thomas Roberts, David Roberts, Sharah Roberts, Lucas Roberts, Lane Roberts, Andrew Roberts, and Peyton Roberts.
Funeral services for Mr. Benny “Monk” Smith were held Sunday, January 9th, 2011 at 3 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. William Hugh Hudson officiating. Burial followed in the Manchester Memorial Gardens.
Visitation was Sunday, January 9th, from 1:30 until funeral time at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel. The Rominger Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Carl “Buddy G.” Bundy, age 60, of Horse Creek, passed away Tuesday at his home.
He was a retired miner and a Vietnam Army Veteran.
He is survived by his son; Elmer Bundy of Leslie County and 2 sisters: Lorene Downey and Anna Downey, both of Horse Creek.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Elmer “Plug” Bundy and Mildred “Poodle” Bundy, 1 son and 1 daughter: Terry Glenn Bundy and Jo Ann Bundy, 1 sister: Ruby Bundy and 1 brother: David Bundy.
Funeral services for Carl “Buddy G.” Bundy were held Friday at 3:00 PM at the Horse Creek Baptist Church with Anthony Lovett officiating. Burial followed at the Goodman Cemetery at Horse Creek.
The Britton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
