High School Coaches Pleased With First Week of Roundball Practice

The Clay County Lady Tigers were hard at work during recent practice sessions.
With a week of official practices in the books, Clay County High School basketball coaches Robert Marcum and James “Ivy” Burchell have both been quite pleased with their team’s performances thus far.
“I think this is going to be an exciting team to watch,” said Tiger Head Coach Robert Marcum, “These boys are going to get after it.”
“I like the way the girls are working,” said Lady Tiger Head Coach James “Ivy” Burchell, “They’re working really hard, and overall I feel the program looks really good right now.”

Lady Tigers Fall to Eventual Region Champion in Region Semis

Log Mountain - With a nice, loud crowd behind them, the Clay County Lady Tiger volleyball team came up one set short of reaching the 13th Region Tournament Championship, falling to Corbin in Thursday’s regional semi-final game at Bell County High School in three sets (25-20, 11-25, 21-25).
The Lady Tigers stormed out the gates against the Lady Redhounds, jumping out to an 11-5 lead following an ace from Katelyn White.
Following a Corbin timeout, the Lady Redhounds closed the gap to within four, 14-10, before Head Coach Phillip Jones called the first timeout for Clay County.
