Hicks to be sentenced for manslaughter

A sentencing hearing has been set for Kristy Hicks, Bobby Couch and Terry Tiggeman on Monday October 6 in Clay County Circuit Court. Hicks will be sentenced for manslaughter (second degree); operating a motor vehicle under the influence (third offense) and wanton endangerment (first degree) according to kycourts.net.

County residents now covered under AirMedCare Network membership plan

Air Evac Lifeteam air ambulance service has been awarded a contract to grant an AirMedCare Network membership to all residents of Clay County. The contract was signed after Clay County Fiscal Court members opened bids Monday evening. The plan has been active since October 1 (Wednesday).

Board votes to increase property tax

The Clay County School Board voted to raise property taxes during a special tax meeting last week. A 3.6¢ increase (per $1000) will be added to tax bills in 2014, while 6.4¢ will be added in 2015.
