The Tigers softball team kicked off their season Monday at home against the Whitley County Lady Colonels. It wasn’t easy, but they picked up the win 5-0.

Things weren’t looking good for the Tigers Monday night in their season opener against 13th region rival Corbin. Inning after inning it seemed Clay blew chances to push runners across the plate in scoring position.

Looking for deer shed antlers turned into a hike that I hadn’t really planned to do last week in a drizzling rain. I was looking for sheds along the wood line of the Hal Rogers Parkway near Hector around what is known as Britton Branch. While searching the area, and having no luck, I remembered my father telling me about a deep mine Shamrock Coal had in the 60’s on that mountain.
