Clay County Sheriff Kevin Johnson discusses the Horse Creek Fire Department bylaws with some of the community members who were at a meeting Monday night. A new board was elected: Anthony Lovett, Daryl Turner, Kisha Hibbard, Jason Collett Mark Jackson and Ernest France. The Fire Department has been closed the past week after a dispute over an earlier election. Bush Fire Department was on standby to provide fire coverage if needed.

Smith charged with burglary of Paces Creek Elementary

A Manchester man has been arrested following an investigation into a burglary at Paces Creek Elementary School. The investigation began when Clay County Board of Education security noticed an individual at the school on a surveillance video.

Mystery Skull

What appears to be a human skull was found in Clay County Monday and has been sent to the Kentucky Medical Examiner’s Office. Local law enforcement authorities are investigating after firefighters with the U.S. Forest Service found the possible human remains on Ephram Creek Road after fighting a forest fire, according to Clay County Coroner…

Hughes Hearing Rescheduled for Friday in Williamsburg

A second pretrial conference in the murder case against Dwight Douglas Hughes, age 61 of Fogertown is scheduled for Friday (March 27) in Whitley County before Judge Paul Winchester beginning at 10 AM. This conference was originally scheduled for February 20 but canceled due to weather.

Burglary, Drug Cases Scheduled for Arraignment

Burglary, Drug and DUI cases as scheduled for arraignment in Clay Circuit Court Monday April 6.
Tabitha Lovins, age 28 was charged in a Clay County Grand Jury indictment for: possession of controlled substance (first degree). According to the indictment on July 4 (2014) she unlawfully possessed methamphetamine (schedule II controlled substance and narcotic drug).
