Joe B. Collins charged with murder in death of his niece Goldie Bowling

JOE B. COLLINS, 64, of Hector, has been charged with murder in the death of his niece Goldie Bowling. He is currently lodged in the Clay County Jail without bond.

A family is torn apart as an uncle has been accused of killing his niece on Hector Monday afternoon.

 GOLDIE BOWLING, 41, was shot and killed at her hom on Hector. Her uncle has been charged in the crime. Funeral arrangements had not been completed at press time.

Joe B. Collins appeared before District Judge Henrietta Bailey Lewis Tuesday morning on murder charges via video from the Clay County Detention Center. He is accused of shooting his niece, Goldie Bowling, multiple times with a handgun at their family residence on Hwy. 149.

Last year North Laurel upset Oneida Baptist Institute in the regional tournament on penalty kicks. The loss stung coach Tomas Clark and his players so bad they’ve still not gotten over it. They were looking for revenge Tuesday afternoon when they squared off in the 49th district tournament at Whitley County.

The third trip to the girl’s state golf tournament was hard on Bailey Hubbard during the second day.

Hubbard, a sophomore, was excited before she stepped up to tee off. She was 15th in the field with a legitimate shot at finishing top 10.

BENNIE MILLS was killed Sunday afternoon as his ATV went over an embankment on Buzzard Road pinning him against a tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
