White wins full tuition scholarship to UK

Will
Will White, the son of Joe and Beth White of Manchester, received four scholarships as a result of being the first place individual at the Math Counts chapter competition at Somerset Community College.

He received a full tuition scholarship to the University of Kentucky, a $500 scholarship from the Kentucky Society of Professional Engineers, a $1000 renewable scholarship to Western Kentucky University, and a two-year scholarship to Somerset Community College.

KU warns Manchester customers of scam

Making calls to its customers for payment

It should come as no surprise that scammers are getting more and more sophisticated, but a new scam targeting Kentucky Utilities customers is taking things to the next level. This latest scheme uses a recording of the utilities’ automated phone system to make the scam sound more authentic. KU never calls customers requesting phone payments.

New Program Seeks SNAP Recipients

Bradley “B.J.” Muncy, Jr. was the victim of a fatal stabbing on Bailey Road in Jackson County.

One man is dead and another is in jail charged with murder and under a $1 million bond as the result of a fight that occurred in Jackson County.

As of press time Tuesday Kentucky State Police have not released the name of any suspects and no arrests have been made in two high profile murder cases. Leon and Shirley Jackson were found at their home at the end of Burchell Branch Road December 9. They died of apparent gunshot wounds.
