Just like in 1987, Clay mounted a comeback to steal a win over Louisville Ballard Saturday night in the Bobby Keith Classic, 81-77. The win was exemplified with a Blake Smith dunk with only seconds remaining.

Southern Brothers help Laurel Creek Residents have a Merry Christmas

Members of the Southern Brothers and several students from Big Creek Elementary School were on hand Sunday at Laurel Creek Health Care Center to present several residents with gifts candy and cards. The Southern Brothers also presented a 50-inch TV to be used in the Rec Room.

Coach Robert Marcum and the Clay County Tiger basketball team were at Walmart for the “Shop with a Tiger” program. One basketball player from each grade school was host by the Tigers and allowed to choose Christmas gifts.

Kentucky State Police, Post 11 traffic safety checkpoints

The Kentucky State Police, Post 11, London, which provides coverage for Clay, Laurel, McCreary, Pulaski, Rockcastle, Wayne and Whitley counties, will be conducting periodic traffic safety checkpoints at locations approved by the Kentucky State Police Policy and Procedures Manual. These checkpoints will be conducted in an effort to enforce the traffic laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Special attention will be paid to occupant protection (seatbelt adherence), sobriety, insurance and registration violations.
