Asher says no to performing marriages

Clay County Judge Executive Joe Asher (right) had a busy Monday, which was finished off when he presented a check to the Clay County Board of Education and Superintendent William Sexton. Earlier in the day Asher released a statement that he would not be performing marriages “till further notice”.

Clay County Judge Executive Joe Asher released a statement Monday that he would not perform any marriages “till further notice”. Asher joins a list of local Judges to give up the privilege of officiating marriages after a recent Supreme Court case that made non-tradition marriages legal in all fifty states.
