Police, volunteers rescue dogs allegedly abandoned as part of a puppy mill; still looking for leads in the case

Police and volunteers rescued more than two-dozen dogs that were dumped off Highway 1524 in Clay County which became a big story on social media and Lexington TV stations over the weekend. Police say they think it was a white woman in a black truck that dumped the animals, but at this point they have no leads.

MISSING GUN HINDERS DEATH INVESTIGATION

A Clay County man is dead and the weapon used is missing.

Police are looking for a stolen gun after friends discovered Chuck D. Sizemore Wednesday evening inside his parked pickup truck. Officials were dispatched at 1:23 PM to a report of an unresponsive individual with an apparent gunshot wound on highway 2467 in southern Clay County.

ISAIAH STIDHAM has been indicted with murder in the shooting death of his girl friend Sherry Collins.

Sheriff’s deputies CHRIS CURRY and JARED SMITH inspect this Jeep Cherokee that flipped Monday morning on North U.S. 421 at Island Creek. A woman, not identified, received minor injuries in the one vehicle accident. The Jeep was travelling south, spun out of control and landed on it’s top in the opposite lane ditch line, according to Officer Curry.

COURT DISCUSSES REFINANCING JAIL; SAVES $140,000 IN INTEREST

The Clay County Fiscal Court continued the process of refinancing the detention center with the second reading of an ordinance during their September meeting. Local banks were contacted but none wanted to take on the entire amount but did express a desire to purchasing bonds. The bond issued should save the county $140,000 in interest savings.
