“Kentucky Wild” a Big Hit

Clay County Sheriff Kevin Johnson and his deputies were in the national spotlight this week after the airing of “Kentucky Wild” on the National Geographic channel program Southern Justice.
Following the premier showing the video of the program was posted on the Manchester Enterprise facebook page. In less than a week the post received over 14,000 hits, breaking the website’s record. Only two other posts have reached 10,000 hits.

Hearings Scheduled in Rape, Robbery and Drug Cases

Four Clay County residents will be in Clay Circuit Court Monday December 1 for a Pre-Trial Hearing. Charles Hill is charged in a drug and criminal abuse case, Rodney MacClaine Smith and Wendy Mills are facing child sexual abuse charges and George Wagers is accused of robbery.

Two to be sentenced in Eugene Slone murder case

Tony and Amanda Short will be sentenced for their part in the Eugene Slone murder case Wednesday (November 12). Tony and Amanda were two of eleven people included in the December 2012 indictment for “conspiring together and with others to knowingly and intentionally distributing a quantity of pills containing oxycodone, a Schedule II controlled substance between 2009 and 2012 in Clay, Knott, Letcher, Perry Counties and elsewhere.”
