Gas fire ‘will burn itself out’

Statement from Clay Emergency Management:

During routine maintenance at the Vinland Energy plant on Gabbard Fk. Rd in Clay Co., a small fire began on a piece of equipment.

Due to the nature of the material burning and in conjunction with Vinland Energy personnel and all emergency services on scene; the decision was made to let the fire burn itself out under the direct supervision of the emergency services present.

The fire is small, controlled and poses no environmental or safety concerns at this time and no impact to the surrounding community. No injuries have been reported.

Vinland Energy and other emergency agencies will remain on scene and continue to monitor the situation until its end.
