Street racing coming this weekend!
June 09, 2025
MANCHESTER, Ky. — The streets of Clay County are about to heat up as racers from across the region gather for one of the most anticipated underground-style drag racing events in the state. The “Battle in the Streets,” hosted by Bang Tha Light, is scheduled for June 13 and 14 at the Elk Mountain Industrial Park.
This two-day event will bring racers and fans together for a legal street race showdown, with more than $35,000 in guaranteed payouts. The competition will take place on an eighth mile stretch of asphalt and will feature small tire and extreme street classes, flashlight starts, and finish-line cameras — no TV crews, no scripts, just real racing.
Here’s what’s on the line:
· Small Tire Class – $20,000 guaranteed
· Extreme Street Car Class – $10,000 guaranteed
· Second Chance Race – $5,000 guaranteed
Racers can enter for a $100 buy-in, which includes entry into a single class and eligibility for the second chance race if they’re knocked out in the first round. General admission is $30 per day, and camping is available for those wanting to stay overnight and catch both rounds of action.
The competition kicks off on Friday the 13th with the first round for all classes, dubbed “First Blood.” Racing continues on Saturday with the second round and the start of the second-chance bracket.
Vehicle Requirements:
· Small Tire Class: 28x10.5 non-W tires, no wheelie bars, AWD welcome.
· Extreme Street Rules: Steel roof and quarters, all body panels (hood optional), slicks allowed, no chassis cars, and cars must be tagged, insured, and street legal with working lights and operational windows.
The event promises a pure, no-nonsense racing experience. “Best car wins,” the flyer declares — and in Clay County this June, that’s precisely what racers and fans are coming to see.
A healthy Clay County requires great community news.
